Resistor decoder for mac

Is there a resistor decoder out there designed for mac? So far I just find windows versions.

I posted this thread on the DIY pedals forum. These are all web based so runs on any computer.

I don't know why those never came up when I was googling. That is exactly what I was looking for, thanks a ton. Also I'm rarely in the pedal forum so I guess I'll have to wake up.

I'd say just find a color printer and print out a guide. They're a whole lot easier to read when your hands are in amp guts and they're tacked to the wall behind your workspace. I hate having to refer back to a computer screen while I'm holding a soldering iron.

There are only 13 band colors to learn. Just practice it. It's not difficult.

When I buy resistors I line them up in groups of five and fold a piece of masking tape over the ends of the leads on both ends and write the value on the tape. Common values get their own drawer in my parts bin.

Google "resistor color codes" under Images when needed, or just print one out as Ben mentioned.

Eventually, you'll memorize them in no time.

Black is zero, Brown is 1, Red 2, Orange 3, Yellow 4, Green 5, Blue 6, Purple (or Violet) is 7, and Grey is 8. White is 9, but I rarely deal with it :)

Once you have the numbers down, the third band is the multiplier. So you only need to memorize two things: colors for numbers, and the third color for multiplier and you'll be set.

Just remember - Blue, Blue, and Blue is the Devil's Resistor. It's like the Tritone, the Devil's Interval, diabolus in musica, or Rock Satanicus. The Number of the Beast, your ex's birthday, Friday the 13th, or any other unlucky number - it makes for good tone and howling dogs :)
