This may be a noob question but it's something that I would like to learn. A while back Redd did an interview for shiner. http://www.shiner.com On the "how about some pickin" video around a guarter of the way through he walks up the neck using some funny chords. I would love to learn what he is doing and what those chords are called. Some tab would be great, if possible, and also what strings he is hitting.

example of one chord: (example might not be in the right key. I'm at work at the moment)

----------------5----------------
---------------------------------
----------------3----------------
----------------6----------------
----------------7----------------
---------------------------------

Thanks, in advance
Heath

Heath, I can't access that site. IF you can send a better link, I'll give it a try.

Robert, yes, that's it. I glanced at the warnings the other day. I have Adobe...just not what this site wants me to download.

You can also get the plug-ins directly from the web-site of your browser of choice if you are reluctant to DL stuff from other pages. I know I am.

Thanks, Robert. I am technically challenged and fearful of the unknown. LOL

HWilliams, I wish I could hear that passage right now for you. ONE thing is to find the bass movement....low note of the chord structure. that will give you some inkling of what is going on and you can build form there.

This should be pretty close:

e--------------------------------0----------
B--------------------------------10---------
G---1---2---3---4---6---7---8---9----------
D---2---2---2---2---5---6---7---7----------
A-------------------------------------------
E---0---2---3---4---5---7---8---9----------

It sounds to me that he roll the chords in group of 16th:

G-------1-----------2---------
D-----2-----------2-----------
A-----------------------------
E---0-----0----2-----2-------

1 - - - 2 - - -

First bar is in the key of E (E, Fm, G dim., E/G#)
Second bar is in key of A (A7, Bm6, Cdim., A)

I´m not sure if I use the correct name of the chords. Like Gatton once said; "I´m an ear player!"

Hope this will help you!

Corrections! Last chord have a B in the bass so it should be called Asus2 but I guess you think it is as a A9, though in this case there is no 7th included.

However, it is a great sounding movement
