Hi,

I have an old 1998 Squier Stratocaster, I was told it was a pro tone korean squier when i bought it but I have had no luck confirming this from the serail number. The original ower had replaced the Squier logo with a Fender Logo.

The serial number is CH054981.

CHXXXXXX was used on some guitars coming from the Cort Korea plant but I think it was for Ibanez models. The Neck and body are marked Aug 98 and Sep 98 respectively.

Does anyone have any information on this serial number? Can anyone confirm this is in fact a Squier Pro Tone serial? With the logo replaced by the provious owner I can not even be certain of the brand...

Thanks,
Kevin

Doesn't appear to be a Pro-Tone, if the info provided on this site is 100% correct? Date checks out however: C - Cort & H - 1988/89

yes, i did the same, bizarre eh? Did ibanez ever make an exact strat copy? Who else made strat copies in the late 90's? I'm biginning to doubt it's a squier....

Loco unfortunately it's a 98 model not an 89. Otherwise that checks out...
