I'm working on a parts Strat, and traded a pedal for some Lollar Blondes pickups. Any of you guys ever use 'em? I can't put 'em in just yet, waiting for the new switch. And, should, say, a half roll of solder per lug be good enough for the NEW switch???
Seriously, though, what about the Blondes?

Beautiful sounding pickups........you are in for quite a treat once you get it wired up. Among the very best strat pickups available imho. Post back once you spend some quality time with them. Enjoy!

I'd scale back the solder amount. Using that much will alter the body weight of your guitar and change the sound a lot. I never used more than 1/4 pound per lug.

they appear to have scooped mids, like the big dippers, can anyone verify this?

Big Dipper is the fender John Mayer sig pickup which sound great!
The blondes do not sound the same to me.
I actually don't care for the lollar blondes. I need more...oomph...they were just too anemic for my tastes.
I prefer the Fender CS 54s, or Duncan Alnico 2's. (highly underrated).

I got 'em in, and, WOW! the 2&4 positions are the finest Strat quack I've heard! Anemic? Nah, just turn up a little bit. Got to cut a new nut, and I believe I'll have a fine Mysterycaster!
