Question for Bill Hullett

I was wanting to know an answer to the following question about studio work. I've done about 6 sessions. I've not went looking but was asked.I've got called for electric for all, but on the last I was also asked to do acoustic. I actually enjoyed this challenge more than I thought I would.This is most demanding by far to me.My question is when the chart has for instance a 1 over a 2, is it o.k. for the electric to play fills on the 2. I think in some instances this works fine, as the rythm has the 1 covered.I got no strange looks and the part stayed.So everyone there must have been fine with it. I would very much respect your take on this.By the way, I learned you really can't take your eyes away from the chart playing accoustic like you can just doing fills. I made out good enough to get called back though, so I guess I might try it again.

Also, is there any advice on how to control breathing so as not to make stupid noises when you are playing? I'm serious! I've read posts here about Brent and others doing it, so I at least know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Hi Lee....Well as far as the noises go , It is definatly a hot spot sometimes you're stereo mic'ed and it's even worse then.....it just takes practice to breathe slow and soft...I've been mic'ed so hot that I've had a joint in my finderes pop and it sounded like I hit the guitar it was so loud! :lol:

It terms of fills I always try and sus out real quick what the melody is doing durring a simular part of the song...and try slight variances of that because thats what your mind is preparing you to hear when the guitar takes over...watch for squeeky strings too....They'll get you everytime :lol:
