I hear that the Blue Marvel speaker in these is not so great. Any recommendations as to a good replacement? I have a "spare" Emi Red White and Blues. Will this be a good match? Thanks.

I may change the speaker down the line, but personally, I think it sounds fine as is. I actually looked up some speakers, because I had never owned an amp with a blue Marvel, and was curious about specs. On paper, the Blue Marvel specs are as good or better than most of what's out there, as far as power handling and freq response. If you are after something specific sound wise, people may be better able to make informed suggestions if you can let us know. For instance, is there something in particular that you aren't happy with about the amp's sound with the stock speaker? creature January 5th, 2009, 12:59 AM also worth playing about with ya mixer settings i run peavey speackers on my disco (currently ul15s tops & ul118's bottoms) and when im setting peopel always say oh peavey ***** - get rid you will never get agood sound outa that - they soon change there tune after ive soundchecked especially as i tend to use the clocks of floyds time and the live version of gary mores parisienne walkways :):) 91xlntS-3 January 5th, 2009, 04:05 AM Nothing wrong with Blue Marvels from my point of view. Have used a few Peavey's that had them, and they sounded great when out on the gig! Give it a try, before you start spending that hard earned $$$. Chicago Slim January 5th, 2009, 05:21 AM I love the Studio Pro, don't care for the Blue Marvell speaker. I didn't like it for cleans, just as I don't like Fender speakers for overdrive. YMMV. I swapped mine with a Scheffield 1235, Celestion Vintage 30, and finally with a Seventy 80. To me, any of them sounded better than the Blue Marvell. Most people don't like Celestion Seventy 80's, But I liked it the best. Try your Red White & Blue, and see if you like it. Also if you just got the Studio Pro, watch your EQ settings. The controls move easily, and bumping them can really effect your sound. ProToneThinline January 5th, 2009, 07:34 AM Also if you just got the Studio Pro, watch your EQ settings. The controls move easily, and bumping them can really effect your sound. There's a pretty easy fix for that. Get some neoprene washers from the hardware store. Remove the knobs, place the washers over the shafts, and re-install the knobs. The washers provide just enough resistance the keep the knobs from moving if they're bumped slightly. |
