i recently lucked into a really super nice esquire parts guitar.

the headstock has been fitted with shaller tuners and i want to go back to the original split shaft kluson style tuners but the holes are too big.

anybody ever done that? do you dowel the holes? what's the easiest way to fix this?

many thanks

Conversion bushings , Stew Mac have the larger ones , IIRC .
The Schallers are probably 10mm , unless someone made the holes larger than nessecary.

Squier necks ,MightyMite , etc often have 10.5 mm holes, and then the Stew mac ones will be what you need....Its funny , 20 years ago , we couldnt get rid of those tuners fast enough , and if we had had the internet then , it would be filled with questions about the safest way to enlarge the holes in the headstock of a Fender guitar !
