Lerb21 December 12th, 2008, 10:46 PM So far, I've done "Act Naturally" and "Buckaroo" and I wanted to ask you guys what song I should do next. I'm pretty much lost so I ask for your help now. Here's a few ones that I know well.
Tiger by the Tail
Love's Gonna Live Here
My Heart Skips a Beat
Before You Go
Wham Bam
I Don't Care (Just as Long as You Love Me)
Made in Japan
Hear are the more "Pedal Steely" songs
Foolin' Around
Above & Beyond
Down on the Corner of Love
Excuse Me (I Think I've Got a Heartache)
Under Your Spell Again
Not saying that you have to stick to the list, by all means, request anything. I don't want to put a poll up, because I can't modify it later.

Oh, jeez, I forgot about Johnny B. Goode, I gotta do that too! I have a few tracks of 'Wham Bam' layed down, I think I might start with that one.
Zipper December 13th, 2008, 07:55 AM Would like to see your expertise applied to "Chaparal" and also "Happy go Lucky guitar" both favorite Don Rich instrumentals of mine.
buddywayne December 13th, 2008, 11:41 AM You pick Lerb. I enjoy your playing.
Big John December 13th, 2008, 12:03 PM 'Tokyo polka' from Live in Japan is a goodie and not heard too often.
I recall a young Albert Lee playing it with 'Country Fever' late 60's early 70's, but really Lerb, we're happy with anything you do !!
The O.K. December 13th, 2008, 12:16 PM What about "Sam's Place!"
unbridled December 13th, 2008, 12:38 PM Love's Gonna Live Here
Just because I think it's a great song!
Quintin December 13th, 2008, 06:02 PM Are you posting these?
Lerb21 December 13th, 2008, 06:15 PM Are you posting these?
Yes when I done with them. They take a while to make.
Monster Mike Welch December 13th, 2008, 07:57 PM Tiger By The Tail, please!
Lerb21 December 13th, 2008, 09:12 PM I decided to do Love's Gonna Live Here first.
It's about 90% done.
One last hurdle on the recording part, singing harmony.
And I'm in the original key of Ab.
Holy crap is it high.
I'll see if I can't hit the high notes in the morning.
unbridled December 14th, 2008, 01:44 AM Cool, good choice!
Why the morning? Voices are usually lower in the morning. Also stay away from chocolate and dairy products before you record and your voice will thank you for it.
Lerb21 December 14th, 2008, 12:41 PM I'm Mr. Play everything in the original keys. I've recorded the song in the original key a Ab. The only problem is the my voice is still too low to sing harmony...
Hmm...
And I don't want to record the harmony down a step and then pitch it up. This ain't Alvin and the Chipmunks...
HOBBSTER01 December 14th, 2008, 12:43 PM Made in Japan or Tiger.
Diamond Jim December 21st, 2008, 03:33 PM I've always loved "Cinderella." Nobody ever covers it.
Nice to see a "young'un" that appreciates Buck and Don.

Lerb21 December 25th, 2008, 08:58 PM Okay guys, I have three songs done, the only thing that I have to is transfer them from my recording computer to my TDPRI/Youtube computer.
Those songs are
'My Heart Skips a Beat'
'Tiger By The Tail'
and
'Love's Gonna Live Here'
Lerb21 December 29th, 2008, 09:45 PM Tiger by the Tail, Love's Gonna Live Here, and My Heart Skips a Beat are currently uploading on youtube...
KCKC December 30th, 2008, 06:36 AM Lerb,
Just listened to your to tiger by the tail! Man that was awesome! I had no idea who don rich was until the GB thread and all the info you posted!
I'VE SEEN THE LIGHT! And it's a sparkley telecaster on a hill!

Lerb21 January 12th, 2009, 06:35 PM I think the next song I'm gonna do is "Above & Beyond". I honestly think I rushed too much with those last cluster of songs, so hopefully this one'll be better cause I can sing it without augmenting the key.
woodman January 12th, 2009, 06:50 PM what about "Together Again"? good way to burnish your faux-steel licks!
Lerb21 January 12th, 2009, 06:56 PM what about "Together Again"? good way to burnish your faux-steel licks!
Thinking about something like that... too... plus crying time...
Wait, are you insinuating that my pedal steel playing is faux!?!?
gtrplr January 12th, 2009, 08:02 PM A-11.
Nice playing, BTW.
Lerb21 January 12th, 2009, 08:13 PM A-11.
Nice playing, BTW.
But Buck asked me specifically to not play A-11!
woodman January 12th, 2009, 08:19 PM Wait, are you insinuating that my pedal steel playing is faux!?!?
oh, ya mean you play pedal steel as well? who knew???
Lerb21 January 12th, 2009, 08:31 PM oh, ya mean you play pedal steel as well? who knew???
Yeah, maybe I'll add some tuba on the next one as well...:razz:
My silliness aside, I do play pedal steel, but only for about a year. I'm okay, nothing special, but like Luther Perkins, my playing gets the job done.
woodman January 12th, 2009, 08:34 PM keep honking on that steel — after a couple of years, you'll get plenty of work! not too many young steelers rising up to take the place of the old masters who are fading into the sunset.
RickH January 13th, 2009, 08:13 AM I liked that lesser-known track by Buck called "Who's Gonna Mow Your Lawn?" Haven't heard that in years.
gtrplr January 14th, 2009, 09:43 PM But Buck asked me specifically to not play A-11!
Good one! Just ignore Buck and do it anyway!
BTW, I also play pedal steel and I agree you should stay at it. We're losing our old masters and mentors at a rapid pace. John Hughey, Duane Marrs, Don Helms, Walter Haynes, Howard White all left us within the last year. Who's gonna fill their shoes?
jericho60 January 15th, 2009, 09:39 AM Sure as hell, if you get proficient at pedal steel, the gigs will start rolling in.
Just ask Dave Biller here in Austin.
gtarman59 January 15th, 2009, 11:48 AM +1 on Tiger By The Tail. That's always been a favorite of mine.

Here's Tiger By The Tail, incase you missed it.
