DRRI v. PRRI Voicing

Do the Deluxe Reverb and Princeton Reverb reissues differ in their tone, overdrive character, etc?

How would they differ if you installed the same speaker in both?

I know that some people say that the PRRI is darker/warmer sounding than the DRRI b/c the DRRI has an additional "bright" cap that's always on unless you remove it. Is that true? If so, would removing it render a nearly identical tone?

What practical sound difference does the PRRI's bias vary tremolo make compared to the DRRI's? Can you even tell a difference?

"The Vibrato channel of the DR (and DRRI) has a "bright cap" soldered around the volume pot that served the same function as the bright switches on other Fender amps: it added some of the treble back in at lower volumes that is lost when you turn down the volume control. As you turn up the amp this cap has less affect until it is doing nothing. On top of this, the Deluxe Reverb is also a bit brighter voiced amp than the Princeton Reverb. The DR has a bigger power and output transformer and it also has a different phase inverter and tremolo circuit."

I prefer PR's. They definately sound different, although the differences are subtle. I sold a '72 SFDR for a '72 SFPR and I'm much happier. The PR is punchier and touch responsive at much lower volumes. The PR still has plenty of low end.

The PR and DR sound extremely similar....so I could basically put a good 12" speaker in a PR and get a good DR sound at lower volumes?
