Hum Increases When touching hardware

I rewired my tele last night and it didnt go so well. I think I have all the connections made right. I shielded the cavities and have ground wires connecting all of the grounds. While it is pretty quiet, the little hum there is gets much louder when I touch the hardware. Any suggestions why that is?

It would seem that I must have a "hot" (positive output) wire touching a ground somewhere. Does that make sense? I have heard of people talking about "grounding loops." What are they? Have I made my own problem by shielding and adding wires connecting all of the cavities?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Double check your connections to the output jack. This will happen if the two wires are swapped. Make sure the black (graound) is connected to the smooth lug and that the white (hot) wire is connected to the lug with the notch in it. Hope this helps.
