Hello,

Need some ideas and advices for a partscaster.

I have a maple/RW Strat neck, so I want to buy a body. It's going to be a UCG or Warmoth.

I plan to make a H/S/H configuration with '59's or Imperial's, wich type of bodywood would you recomend me?
- any comments on my choice of pick-ups and any suggestion for the Single Coil?

I want a fixed bridge, is there any sound difference between a blocked trem and a hardtail, what would you choose and why?

I'd suggest a USA Custom Guitar body, hardtail, in alder, preferably one piece.

Tommy's got lots of great alder; with all the shipping and import pains, you might as well spend the $ 50 or whatever and make it one piece.

If you have played an S hardtail, you know that sort of "springy" sound is gone, and I would think that the loss of that trait is irrelevant with 'buckers. A trem guitar, even a blocked one, has a more lyrical, gentle sound and if you're installing humbuckers you can't access that sound, anyway.

+1. If you want a trans finish you may want to look into some swamp ash. 1-piece never hurts.

Thanks for help so far...

Guess im going for the fixed bridge then, if Boris is right.

What type of lacquer / paint does UCG finish their bodys with?

IMHO, unless the wood resonates exceptionally well, one piece bodies are a waste of money. I've had three piece Strat and Tele bodies that were exceptionally resonant and made superb instruments. As to wood finish, I'd recommend keeping it light/thin, stay away from nitrocellulose lacquer unless you want a relic ... if you do use nitro, make sure the initial sealing coats are resin for wood protection.
