Hi. Has anyone tried to attach a Roland GK-3 pickup to a Tele? I'm wondering if the distance between the lip around a Tele's bridge plate is too narrow to fit the length of the pickup. The Roland manual doesn't give measurements. Any help would be much appreciated.

You're right ..It is too long ..You gotta change the plate to one without a lip..I have a GK3 that I will be putting on my Tele when I get it together..Right now it's on a Strat..

i've mounted GK2A's on most of my teles at one time or another, still have them on 5.....4 of the 5 have the vintage style bridge-plate...all you need to do is mark off where you want the GK to fit and dremel out notches and secure it to the bridge-plate....depending on distance from the strings i have gotten by with using double face tape to secure them and have never had one fall off yet....or glue will hold them in place with no damage to pickup or bridge-plate....easily removed when attached with either method if you take a little care in doing so...

i see no reason why the GK3 could not be mounted the same way....will look thru my pics and see if i have a enough of a closeup image of one of my installs...currently no camera so can't do a new pic...

okay, found a image that MIGHT give you a close enough view of the mounting notch in one of my home-brew teles

the GK2A pickup was attached with double face tape 2 years ago and is still hanging in there....

Thanks for the help. It looks like if you could cut the notches just the right size, it would also even help hold it in place along with the tape.

I was also concerned that mounting the pickup on the chunk of metal that is the bridge plate might cause some kind of interference with the pickup, but I guess not if you've done it successfully. Thanks again.
