Miss Tango April 14th, 2004, 04:50 PM Hi all,
Thanks for the welcome.
I've been playing guitar since I was a kid and using a Tele for the last 5 years. It's a 3 colour sunburst American Standard with a maple neck and black scratchplate, and I plug it into an Orange AD30HTC and 2x12 Orange cab.
I'm currently playing guitar in a band in Gloucestershire UK, covering music by The Clash, The Ramones & Blondie amongst others.
I absolutely love my Tele, the shape, sound and playability is fantastic for me. It's no wonder so many female guitarist chose them!
Glad to be chatting about them to other smitten folk.
Cheers all
Rachel.

reverbbb April 15th, 2004, 02:15 PM How do I post a pic, does it have to be from a web site or can it be off my computer?
Thanks
Basically, in order for your picture to be available online all the time, you need to have the picture stored on a live server on the Internet. There are several free hosts around, though some are better than others. It is possible that your ISP account will allow you to upload pictures for storage.
In order to get them to display on a TDPRI post, you need code that points to the storage location of that picture:

Your picture is obviously going to have a very different location than mine. You just have to be sure that you have enclosed the location with the HTML Tag of:
[img] [/img]
This is the simplest method of posting a picture. The other thing to know is that you should not exceed a pixel size of 400 in either direction. Many image viewing programs allow you to resize the picture and then save a new smaller version (be careful not over write the original that you might want to keep). Then you find the service that will allow you to upload the picture from your harddrive, to the picture host server.
If you need some more elaborate discussion about posting pictures on TDPRI, follow this link:

timspong April 16th, 2004, 06:33 PM Here's one with Michelle Shocked. I played a few songs with her band at one of her gigs and invited her over to one of mine the next night. Couldn't believe she actually showed up!
Michelle is the cousin of my old bass player friend. Jimmy (not Shocked) and Michelle went to Brian Adams High School in Dallas aound 1974~1977. I went to Skyline and never met her though.
I almost bought an old British canal boat off Michelle Shocked. Hey this reminds me of that Kevin Bacon game. :?
Phil April 17th, 2004, 10:59 AM Here I am at a recent reunion gig I did with my first band from the late '70's. Great fun. I'm playing the USACG tele I won in last years giveaway. Love that guitar. I think I'm playing the same chord that Fuzzy was asking that lovely young lady about.

PraiseCaster April 20th, 2004, 03:29 PM Or, just a double size Telecaster player?
Thanks Roger Reverbb!
My rig is as follows: Squier Affinity Special Telecaster, butterscotch-blonde, with Grover Tuners, Dunlop Strap-Locks. Set-up for 10ga strings, intonated, and action set low. Other than that, she's bone-stock!
My amp is a Pignose G40V. I used to have it set-up in a 1-12 combo cabinet, but due to an accident, the EV12 speaker is no more, so, I put it all back in the original cab, w/ the original speaker (thinking about getting an Eminence LG10).
And of course theres me. Not much to talk about there, other than, only a face a mother could love!

thrasher September 2nd, 2004, 11:23 PM Scotland,
You probably can't see if because it is a .bmp file, for a while browsers didn't show those (they're big compared to jpg or gif). Not really an internet standard for that reason.
Regardless, I can see the photo, which means it is there on some server on the internet somehwere!

Right click on the above url adn go to save as... then you can see it after it d/l's.
Of course this post is a complete waste if the only reason you couldnt see it was because the file was 'down' for a moment when you checked the thread.

that's my white/blonde 2001 MIA btw. I lOVE that guitar.
oh and by the way, just in case any of you think i've got an ego the size of texas "captain gorgeous" definitely doesn't refer to me! it's a superhero i "invented" while enjoying a 10 hour diverted train journey from glasgow to london a while back...
i forget what his special power was. doing star-jumps or something.
Essex Boy April 20th, 2005, 06:34 AM You're in Islington? I was at the noodle bar next to the resonator centre the other day. I live most of the time in Shoreditch. :D
captain gorgeous April 20th, 2005, 06:52 AM Hey man, i bought a ukelele from the resonator Centre last weekend! I live on City Road, if you just carry on down past the canal from The Resonator Centre you'll probably hear me rehearsing!
Where do you tend to hang out then? Do you go to a lot of gigs?
We put on a night at the Pleasure Unit in Bethnal Green once a month, it's a chilled sunday acoustic session sort of thing and we run a music quiz, complete with "live intro" for you to guess at between the artists. You should come down!
Where abouts are you in Shoreditch then?
Essex Boy April 20th, 2005, 06:57 AM Wow....you're really close to me.
Live on Waterson St. which is sandwiched between Hackney Rd and Kingsland Rd - joins the two of the together. Right near Brown's :D
I will have to come down to your night.
I play mostly r'n'b and blues and play a lot out in Essex (theres a big blues scene out there). My old band used to play at the Spread Eagle and other places and rehearse at the premises. You live near the MacDonalds on city road?

captain gorgeous April 20th, 2005, 07:15 AM Well hey there neighbour!
No I'm a little further up towards Angel than that... That's specific enough for a public MB i think *looks over shoulder*
Dude you have come to the Sunday Circus it's ALWAYS a great laugh. It's on the second Sunday of every month. We usually have Sleepy Ed Hicks down who plays sort of crazy appalchian (sp?) bluegrass on a banjo and tells tall-tales plus another mystery guest act. Occasionally my (usually pretty noisy) band will pick up the brushes and an acoustic and get into some Mighty Wind style folky-ness!
It's just a very laid back kind of evening. It always feels like we're just putting on a show in someone's living-room. We have guest DJs too. I even played all my alt-country records at the last one, but it's our drummer's turn this month so expect lots of English 70's new wave and post-punk gubbins.
I'll email you some details and stick some links up in a sec. Let us know when your next gig is and i'll try and make it down!
Cheeeers!
p.s. Good luck with that beautiful Custom. It looks absolutely stunning. I never liked the look of bound teles before (too fancy) but the one in that picture is gorgeous!

ummm i'll find a review as i always find that hard to answer. i'm a bit of a magpie i guess. essentially i'm into everything from beefheart to the beatles with lots of filthy rock 'n' roll, alt-country folk and jazz in the middle. this review is is from an english site called "opposition t":
Engagingly clever mix of math rock, quirky blues and post-punk.
The two frontmen share lead and backing vocals, with extra backing from the drummer. Singing style is the slightly wayward but warm and jokey melody of campus rock. Backing can be wild - even falsetto - harmonies, or bizarre responses. The guitar is alarmingly versatile, groovy reggae, country twanging, funky licks, high speed blues solos, post-rock scribbles, and Brian May syrup. Bass is at the core of the tunes, the king of the bouncy castle. Drum beats are superbly mannered but utterly twisted. The songs appear to be about the spooky joy of everyday life. "It's not the lottery". "This is where the washing is". "All my friends sit around and drink all night". "Today I got a tummy ache, it wasn't very nice". There are philosophical moments - "I've gotta get away from here doesn't mean I don't want you near". But their highly popular closing song sums up the lyrical content - "I'm out of shower gel > STUFF > I've been using someone else's > STUFF". Daddy Long Legs write songs about stuff. Each of these musings is contained in around 3 minutes, but there's a sprawling range of prog-rockers, kooksters and grungers that seem to have pressed the Daddys' buttons. 10cc and Supertramp at the prog end, They Might Be Giants and Ween in the campus middle, Husker Du and Foo Fighters in the grunge gutter. Daddy Long Legs seem capable of culling a football chant from a Captain Beefheart song.
Daddy Long Legs are musically kaleidoscopic, very inventive, and very silly. They show off their skills, but the combination of variety and fun is enjoyable rather than pompous or esoteric. If the Daddy Long Legs were a foodstuff, they would indeed be a Minestrone served up with Parmesan cheese. Homemade, unpredictable, and highly flavoursome.

Looks like you are really enjoying that one...and so you should...great axe !...I have no intention whatsoever of selling this guitar, it's my #1 for gigging. I bought it nearly mint, there's no doubt it's going to get nicks and dings and you know what? I DON'T CARE! It is just to easy to play this guitar and too easy to coax great tone out of it.
Thanks for the nice comment, I do love the looks of it too!
