I have not really kept up to snuff on custom shop guitars. I found a 56 RI CS Strat, the certificate says made 2005.
Its see through blonde, light ash with chrome hardware, used, with a few dings.
The neck is fat, and thats what I need cause of my big paws.
My questions are, is this a fairly common model? Is $1600 a reasonable price? Will I find another one if I dont buy it?
The problem I have with the regular 57RI is the necks are a little to slim.

Thanks,
Don

Personally, I would be jumping at that for $1000--1200. Above that it's a more careful thing. On craigslist, would he get that?

Well, I am a Tele guy and its not often I find a Strat that seems right. The only Strat I have is an 87 Mary Kaye 62 RI, I bought that new when looking for another Tele
I was over at Music Machine and another store, tried a bunch of thinskin Strats and others, but didnt find the one.
I hate it when I pick up a guitar and cant get it out of my mind!

years ago I had a similar dilemma: not two weeks after I picked up
a beautiful CS '60 Relic Strat in Fiesta Red that played like butter for
$1200.00 (used - no certificate), I came across an AMAZING CS '56
Heavy Relic Strat (looks much like Clapton's famous "Blackie") going
for $1850.00 "new" with all of the case candy.

well I knew that I'd never see it again if I left it there so I whipped out
the ol' credit card and bit the bullet, and it's only quite recently that
I've played any Custom Shop Strats that even come close to either guitar.

I've posted pics on TDPRI of both of them in separate threads, BTW.

if I'd bought the '56 Relic first, then I would have been cheesed off to find
the sweet '60 Relic going for $600 less, but there's no way I could have not
snagged the '56 Relic regardless although I still love the other one as well.

I have to weigh out my options, and of course I will find a good guitar only when I should not be spending as I am moving my machine shop.
My wife offered to buy it for me, but that could have lasting implications of very severe servitude!

Thanks,
Don
