Volume Pot Problems - Advice?

Hey all,
Just installed new push/pull pots yesterday on a double hum guitar. 2 vol pot, tone.
Not my tele, but wanted to post to this forum, since there's a lot of knowledgeable folks here.
Pup output is fine. But...when I turn down the volume pot, the volume only goes down slightly and stays in the same range (from 7-3).
Then, when I turn it down to 0, I can still faintly hear some signal.
Did I burn out the pot? Wiring problem?
Here is the diagram I used:

I just soldered ALL the grounds to the side of the pot. Was this the correct spot? (never used push/pulls before). The top left lug on the push/pull was also soldered to the green/bare ground. Is this the issue? Hmmmm.
Well, thanks for any advice anyone wants to post. Thanks!

Did you solder the right lug to the pot base (see diagram)? I've forgotten to do that a few times and got what you're describing. If it is soldered, check to make sure the lug is touching the base. If not, resolder. Good luck!

I DID NOT do that, actually. Alright, thanks, I will re-check and see what is what. Yeesh. A newb, a soldering iron, and a stewmac catalog. Perfect combination. Thanks for the advice. Now, where on the pot do you specifically solder that lug? Just tuck it up in there in between the push/pull lugs and the regular pot?

Just pull it up and bend it over so it touches the base of the pot. Then solder it to the base. The first time I negelcted to do this, it drove me crazy trying to figure out what was wrong -- everything was wired correctly, but the vol wasn't working right. Then I looked a little closer at the diagram. The second time I neglected to do this, I remembered what happened the first time .

Great! Thanks a lot for the info.
Hmmm...when I switched out the pups the first time, I had the same issue with the stock vol pots. Wonder if this was the issue to begin with? Either way, prompted me to get push/pull pots for coil tap, so I guess it worked out either way. Alright, appreciate the advice, very much needed and thanks for your time!

No problem. Glad it all came together.
