Hey all-
I've been geeking on this demo of the AC15 Heritage handwired:

I can find several AC30 kits online, but it seems AC15s are less common.
I'm not familiar enough with the old Voxes to know how faitful the amp shown above is , but I'd love to build something like that.
Anybody got any thoughts? Schemos, layouts, etc.?

funny, i was thinking the same thing. i've had the DIY amp jonz for a year now and this summer may be the time. As I know jack about building amps I'm thinking a kit is in order for the first one at least. But which one? there are plenty of cool 18 watt marshall inspired kits out there. but after seeing this vid i'm also thinking something voxy.
Also do i want to make a combo? or a head and a cabinet? ... decisions decisions.
this a very sweet sounding amp though. if oly my pockets were deeper.

I'm not trying to talk you out of anything, but those EF86s are really tricky, and very prone to microphonics from new, so bear in mind you might have to buy three or four to get one good one, or pay someone to sort through them beforehand like Eurotubes or GT or similar.
That said, I've heard Joiseys' Ceriatone (can't remember which one, but it's a EF86 model head), which sounded fantastic, and they seem good value for the money.
They do sound good, though, don't they? I wonder what's more important to those tones, the 86s or the Blues...

Lots of great tones there! Some of those options you won't find on any AC15 schematic that I know of, but the TDPRI Brain Trust could figure out what's going on, I'm sure.

I vote for the Blues. Those speakers are magic.
Old thread. Since I started this one, I've built a 5e3, 5f1, and I'm currently wrapping up my matchless Lightning build- EL84s, but no EF86s
