Squier SQ-- switch knob & pickguard

Hi all--

I just picked up a blonde '83 Squier tele (SQ serial #). From what I can tell, it's mostly original, but there are a couple things I think have been changed:

1. What type of switch knob would have been original on a Squier SQ? This one has a black Strat-style knob. Would it originally have come with a hi-hat or barrel-style knob?

2. (I think I know the answer to this one, but just double checking) What color/style pickguard would it have had originally? 3-ply WBW, 8-hole? It currently has a black, 5-hole pickguard on it ('52-style), but it is drilled for a 8-hole guard.

Thanks!

Ben

I have an SQ tele too, from 1984. Mine is a refin, but was originally blonde too (paint in cavities). Otherwise it was all stock. when I got it. They came with top hat switch knobs and 8-hole w/b/w pickguards. My pickguard has a nice aged look. Nice guitars that can be found at reasonable prices; mine was $129 a few months ago at a local shop, but they usually go for $200-300.

I like bigger frets, so I installed a USACG soft V neck with big frets, and a spaghetti logo.

Thanks for the info!

I replaced the switch knob with a tophat-style, and am on the lookout for a WBW pickguard.
