stupidish grounding/wiring question [Archive]

OK, i rewired my strat last night, and I'm having the strangest problem. I am getting almost no signal unless I touch the output jack plate. and then everything's fine. I can figure that something's not grounded, but what should I look for? It's a standard wiring, nothing special. I should add that the output plate touching is the only thing that solves this problem-not touching the strings or anything.
Thanks, everyone. a few months ago, I would have never dreamed to rewire a guitar, this is number 2.

it's fixed. it was apparently the bridge ground not being properly grounded to the volume pot
