Fender Pro Jr question.

Good afternoon,
Just picked up Pro Jr yesterday.
The guy thought it was a 97 but the circuit board says Copyright 2002.
The speaker is a Jensen instead of an Eminence that they would have used back then.
The plate on the back with the model and serial is missing..
Has anyone seen on the WEb a version history for this amp?
(eg circuit changes, speaker changes etc etc). I would be surprised that the pro jr has only changed the speaker in the past 10 years.

Thanks

Drew

You actually have the newest circuit board. It should have an Eminence-built Fender Special Design speaker. It sounds like your amp has been through a lot!

The PDF of the schematic is currently among the missing from the Fender site. It had a page for each of the board revisions over the years (4 or 5, as I recall).

The earliest PJs had an Eminence Blue Frame speaker that is highly regarded and sought-after by PJ fans. Some back then had tweed covering, too.

Thanks Bill,
I emailed McFender for a schematic (worth a try).
Nice little amp but compared to the Vibrochamp.. like comparing apples and antelopes. If it doesnt grow on me it goes on the block.

Try a 5751 in that preamp slot! It tames down the "mild to wild" nature of the crunch in the circuit.

Thanks Bill. Will give it a try. Use the 5751s in my Chinese Champ600 after I bypassed the tone stack and am in love with that amp. Dont find the Pro Jr too wild yet.. haven really gotten up past 4 yet.. maybe this weekend.

In other news.. I emailed Fender and they got back to me (quickly too) with 10 PAGES!!! of schematics and PCB layouts for the Pro Jr.

Very very pleased

Night all.

Just my 2 cents...you're holding a sweet amp. Maybe not the Vibro that you are hoping for, but a GREAT amp nonetheless. Give that amp some time to grow on you and maybe you'll love it.
I have a P2P 5E3 that is absolutely amazing...the only other amp that still gets use other than the 5E3 is the Pro Jr.
Great amp. Don't sell it short.
