Hi Guys,

Does anybody know what font Fender used in the 70s for the names of the guitars on the decals (i.e. Starcaster, Telecaster Deluxe etc).

That IS a nice one. Reminds me of the font on tweed amp faceplates, more than that 70's font.

I'd like to see someone design the 60's amp model font (with the baseball tails) and the 70's/80's Fender font with the proper F.

Oh dear, another attempt and not an original idea. Take it from me; typography and graphics are a big part of what I do. All they've done is tweak the cap "F" and replace the lower-case "e" in Brush Script with a reduced-size version of the cap character. This doesn't quite work as the character now has less "weight" than the rest. To do the job properly it needs to be put into outline (or curves), editing in a vector app and re-saving with the appropriate ANSI number to make it part of the font again.

Anyway, even if done perfectly, it would be no more than an approximation, as the Fender logos old and new were not set from any font, commercially available or otherwise, but were hand-drawn as a single graphic entity. In fact, as revealed in an earlier thread about the "Spaghetti" logo, in that one at least the two apparent "e" characters actually differ from each other.

So by playing about with Brush Script or anything similar, it'll always be at best a case of close, but no cigar.
