Taming MIM bridge pup?

My bridge sounds too bright/hot to me...I'll likely never use it like this, Id adjust it down but it already sounds thin to me and fear it would only sound thinner.

Awhile back I recall seeing a topic about somebody removing one of the (2)bar magnets...and I was looking to read up on that, but cant find it no matter how hard I try and taylor my search...anybody know what Im referring to?

Or any recommendations on how to tame this pickup? I have no issue with the neck or middle and really enjoy those tones, Id just like something a lil more complimentry...and less ice pick-y.

Simple job to swap a wire on the switch so that the tone control on the middle pup controls the bridge pup instead or alternatively have that control operate both middle and bridge pups. That will tame the bridge pup very easily.

Check some of the websites for this mod - it may even be in the wiring mod section of this site - I haven't looked for it.

Thats an excellent idea I hadnt even considered!
Its strange sometimes how the simplest things escape me.
Thats probably nothing but a simple jumper from pot to swtich...I'll go look that up now!
Thanks!

Although, now Im still curious to see that topic about removing one of the bar magnets.

Don't swap it, add a short jumper from the mid to the bridge.

Can anybody tell me what this cap (http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/simplebtone.php) is for? I mean what is its purpose? Isnt there a tone cap on the tone pot already? Would I want to match the (cap)values?

Or is a simple jumper sufficient?

The added capacitor is of small value and is in series with the normal tone capacitor (decreasing total capacitance) so you don't lose the high tones, either. I just used a jumper on mine.....

Yeah, "small value" could have meant 3 different things...guess I just needed an interpreter, thanks!
