I think it would get decent traffic, but my main concern with the idea is that this forum is separated by type of instrument, not brand. Anything remotely resembling a Tele is allowed in the Telecaster Discussion forum, anything acoustic goes in the acoustic forum, and anything bass goes in the bass section. Making a separate Squier forum would to requests for a "Fender copy" forum for Tokai, Yamaha, and others, and an only Fender forum, basically dividing the main Tele forum into three. I don't think that's a good idea, since a question about a Squier will almost always be the same question about a Fender will be the same question about a Tokai. IMO it'd be better having a forum for electric guitars other than Tele-type. The Bad Dog Cafe, to me, would be a place where guitars aren't discussed, and moving all the Gibson threads into a non-Tele forum would help. JMHO. TDPRI July 10th, 2008, 11:18 AM Both ideas have been on my list for some time. I have a Squier forum on my Strat page and a "S-Type forum" there as well. The jury is still out on those. pengipete July 10th, 2008, 11:29 AM I'm not so sure. With few exception most talk about Telecasters is about the generic Tele and the same questions and answers apply whoever makes the guitar - best pickups, scratchplate colours etc. It would make more sense to me to have a vintage and collectors forum for guitars, amps etc - lots of pretty pictures but not so much about which parts to replace etc and leave all of the rest of the Tele's where they are now. Tim Armstrong July 10th, 2008, 11:40 AM My opinion (free and worth the price!) is that there's a point of diminishing return when you separate out topics much more than we've already done. Folks miss out on topics more so than they would on, say, the Bad Dog. I know the Bass forum would suffer if we separated out posts on Squier! Just saying... Cheers, Tim clarence July 18th, 2008, 06:10 AM HUH !!!!! What did he say ? Tim73 July 18th, 2008, 06:14 AM I agree with Tim Armstrong - it *could* introduce an element of elitism. Then you could argue that MIM or CIJ Fenders need forums. They're all telecasters after all. guitarzan13 July 18th, 2008, 06:21 AM What Tim said..... yegbert July 18th, 2008, 09:38 AM Squier: http://www.tdpri.com/telephoto/data/549/medium/99SqStd02.jpg Squire: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=13248&stc=1&d=1216391710 boris bubbanov July 18th, 2008, 10:52 PM Guy's with as much talk about them is going on in here you might as well add a Squire forum for us Sarge Yeah, I love that video where Billy is prancing around in that nightie! (No, it is not necessary to post it again, please!) The squier/squire confusion is enough by itself to ghetto-ize the forum. There is already too much profileration. We can talk about the squier 51 and the Vista series with the Big Dogs. Also, it will cannibalize the Strat-talk forum. whitele July 29th, 2008, 08:18 PM Don't do it, it would mess things up. You can always have "Squier only" information by using the well working search option on this board. Leave the board as it is. J-man July 29th, 2008, 08:25 PM Something along those lines is in the works.. Just you wait. HOBBSTER01 July 29th, 2008, 09:01 PM Okay then. I want a MIK forum. Brandon Roy July 29th, 2008, 10:21 PM Nah I don't think a squire board is totally needed. A squire telecaster discussion will go in the tele section. etc etc |
