Hello :) I´m putting together a small project to have a pringles can amp.. The smaller variety of can (43g).

I have a speaker that fits exactly on the top of the can. I´m just getting into the whole electrical thingomagicky world so I´m keeping it simple.. I´m basing it of the "little gem" circuitry, no gain control.. Only an on/off switch, a "gain or no gain" switch and jack on the bottom, and the speaker covers the top.. However, I am having two problems.
I am using this perfboard layout : http://www.runoffgroove.com/littlegem.html
I am not a 100% sure how to deal with the grounding.. Where should I connect it?
and secondly.. I have thought about it but cant really find an answer, where should I store the battery? (any ideas?) It must be easily accessable.. But not "in the way". One solution I have been considering is using the plastic cap as a base for the jack and switches, that would allow me to open the can normally to change the battery. And mount the speaker on the bottom where the aluminum cap is (I´d have liked to keep that as the base for the jack and switches for structural reasons (being that aluminum is stronger than plastic).
Comments and suggestions are more than welcome
