ToadLC July 5th, 2008, 10:11 AM I felt like a kid looking for Christmas waiting on the laquer to dry. Now I can finally get on with the assembly.

thaus July 5th, 2008, 10:28 AM Nice look!! So, what was the process? How many coats and clear coats did you need to get that shine??
JimiBryant July 5th, 2008, 10:34 AM that looks really nice.. really, really nice!!
ToadLC July 5th, 2008, 10:44 AM I pretty much followed the procedure at Reranch, which is where I bought the paint.
http://www.reranch.com/basics.htm
Couple coats of grain sealer, sanding in between. A couple coats of deft sanding sealer, sanding in between. BIN primer then one can of color about 9 coats. I wet-sanded the color to remove orange peel. Then almost two cans of Reranch clear. Wet-sended with 1000, 1200, 1500 and 2000. Polished with Scratch-X and finished with Finesse-It II.
GatorBait July 5th, 2008, 11:24 AM Nicely done, and great color!

Mark-00255 July 5th, 2008, 10:27 PM Excellent finish work - just stunning! So nice I almost missed the string-through and Tele bridge holes!!! A hybrid, huh? Looks like fun!
Fortsbest July 6th, 2008, 03:55 AM beautiful color and work well done. I may have to do one that color later.
ToadLC July 6th, 2008, 10:03 PM I got it put together today. Strung it up to put tension on the neck & I'll get around to setting it up in the next couple days. Anyway here are some pic's.

Shadowrunner July 6th, 2008, 11:35 PM absolutely beautiful.
RodeoTex July 6th, 2008, 11:41 PM Are you sure you waited long enough to polish? It still looks wet to me!
purpletele July 7th, 2008, 09:47 AM perfect
guitarzan13 July 7th, 2008, 12:21 PM absolutely beautiful.

ajgus July 8th, 2008, 09:49 AM Are you sure you waited long enough to polish? It still looks wet to me!
+1. Absolutely stunning. You set it up yet? How does she play?
ToadLC July 8th, 2008, 09:58 AM +1. Absolutely stunning. You set it up yet? How does she play?
I did adjust the neck, saddles and set intonation but I only played it for a couple minutes. One of the pickups came DOA, so apart it came & the bridge pickup is shipping back for a replacement. It feels great and soon I'll put some serious playing time on it.
Since I tend to look at the glass being half full, I'm looking at this being a lesson learned. Note to self: in the future test pickups before installing!
doster July 8th, 2008, 04:20 PM A sweet beauty and wonderful color.
J-man July 8th, 2008, 04:36 PM Very nice!
I always liked that colour.
ajgus July 9th, 2008, 10:02 AM Hey Toad, got any specs? Body, neck, pups, etc?
ToadLC July 9th, 2008, 10:09 AM Hey Toad, got any specs? Body, neck, pups, etc?
Sure thing, the body is poplar from Warmoth. Neck is Allparts SMF - 22 frets with 12" radius. Gotoh Kluson tuners. Pups are Keystones from Bill Lawrence. Bridge is vintage hardtail from Callaham. Tusq nut from Graphtech. Nitro laquer from reranch. Dunlop strap locks. The only fender parts on it are the knobs & switch tip.
ajgus July 9th, 2008, 10:16 AM Wow, you didn't mess around, did you? Sounds like a great guitar. Yeah, I didn't even notice the missing trem cavity until you pointed out the hardtail. Nice job all around!
DMRoller July 9th, 2008, 12:04 PM That is beautiful. Did I mention stunning?
I so want a Tele in that color.
Nice job.
Dale
Radspin July 11th, 2008, 08:50 PM Wow, does that look good. I've often thought about building a guitar--and I'd like to build one just like yours after seeing it!
ToadLC July 11th, 2008, 09:15 PM I appreciate all the kind words. I hung around here looking at all the fine guitars that were being built and soaking up information from the experts and finally I just had to do it. Thanks to everybody that helped by showing the way!
Guitars July 15th, 2008, 12:49 AM A confession; I like Seafoam better than Surf and Daphne better than Sonic. The darker greens and blues just seem to catch the eye.
Bullwinkle July 15th, 2008, 01:20 AM Sure thing, the body is poplar from Warmoth.
Hey Toad does that body have the "contoured heel" feature? What do you think of it?
ToadLC July 15th, 2008, 07:38 AM Bullwinkle, it does have the contoured heel. It is still apart waiting on a replacement bridge pickup so I don't have any opinion yet on how it feels. It should be together in the next couple days & I'll let you know what I think.
dave42 July 16th, 2008, 06:59 AM yep, perfect. Enjoy!

stratopus July 16th, 2008, 08:48 PM Ditto. The seafoam is beautiful. I'd love to try the ReRanch product. Your pics certainly make a few of us want to try it.
