waterslide or sticker?

Thinking about putting a custom decal on a replacement neck and just wondered what opinions people had regarding waterslide decals or the stickers?

I use waterslides quite successfully. If you want to clear over the sticker, the waterslides are usually much thinner so the sink under the clear well.
Regular stickers are usually more durable if you are not going to clear coat.

Waterslides are classic, very thin, and you can make some pretty cool ones yourself!

How did you do that Musicman1 ?

Bought some waterslide decal paper, cheap at any hobby store.
Did the graphic in a computer art program and printed it.
That is basically it.
You can do anything you want.
I own a music store Beautiful Noise Music (hence the Beautiful Noisemaster) LOL
Anyway, the only trick is to spray the decal with a thin coat of lacquer (or any clearcoat) before doing the water/application,
Inkjet printer ink will come right of in the water, so the thin coat of clear keeps this from happening.
Apply VERY carefully, the decals are extremely thin!
All the "regular" directions will be included with the paper (or you can easily find them online)
Anyway, it is a fairly easy process, and in my opinion get good looking results.
Do a search on this forum for waterslide and you will find a lot of info!

I just finished the body of a Tele project I have been working on for a month. I got a classic looking waterslide of a blonde from www.hectic-hillbilly.com. This guy is in the UK and I got the waterslide in 5 days! Great service and the slide looks great. Anyway, the waterslide is under about ten coats of nitro lacquer. Once I get the pups ( Curtis Novack is winding them ) I will post a picture. It turned out really well.

So what steps do I take with the waterslide when my headstock finish is tinted satin ?

I had a batch (10),done by EF Hayes/ Trey
A real nice guy I found on Ebay.
He used metallic gold.
I did the next batch using the closest thing to gold my computer will print.
It is not metallic.
Under a few layers of lacquer with that small of a letters it is hard to tell.

I have used EF Hayes/Trey as well, and have gotten really good service and great looking waterslides.
