RiverDog June 29th, 2008, 12:39 AM I've been slowly collecting pedals so that I can start a pedal board. I pretty much have everything I need except for reverb. Unfortunately I don't have much dough. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive reverb pedal?
I know a lot of people like the Marshal one and I'd love to pick one up but even that is out of my price range right now. Does Danelectro make one that is decent? I know I can afford their stuff. (With the exception of the Reel Echo which I would love to get my hands on!)
Thanks!
stxrus June 29th, 2008, 06:17 AM just my $.02 but a cheap reverb pedal that doesn't sound like a cheap reverb pedal just doesn't exist.
i'm working toeards the Lee Jackson Mr. Springy for around $200. the closest i've ever played that sounded like a real reverb. that being said i don't use a ton of reverb but i like to "wet" the sound a bit as needed.

eryque June 29th, 2008, 08:53 AM Line6 Verbzilla. Highly tweakable, sounds incredible, relatively cheap. About $110 new, used around $80. No one will ever know you're using a pedal until you tell them.

studio1087 June 29th, 2008, 10:43 AM You may find a Marshall Reflector on ebay for 75 dollars...I love my Reflector. The Dano mini reverb is not a reverb (I have one) , it is really an odd delay. I bought on on ebay for 10 dollars and I got what I paid for.
The Beringer Reverb Pedal can be bought onm ebay for 25 dollars brand new. They sound like a digital reverb...not springy but they work OK. On a budget, I would start with a Behringer and watch for an affordable Reflector on ebay.

+1. I don't own one, but if I needed a reverb pedal, I'd look no further than this. I use the Line6 modeling software on my computer, which I assume uses the same reverb algorithms. Very convincing.
11 Gauge June 29th, 2008, 07:35 PM It's no longer the flavor of the month, but I still love my Holy Grail. It's the only non spring unit that I've ever bonded with. It's not deep on features (although the new Holier Grail and Holiest Grail sure are), but they got the essence of it right.

I agree 100%
Great value and a great pedal.
The only thing I would add to eryque's description is that it is built like a tank too.

I owned the Dano reverb, and thought that it really colored the tone (sucked away the highs). It does have a "Tone" knob, so you'd think you could adjust it so it's neutral, but it didn't. Even if that weren't a problem, I thought that the reverb sound itself was pretty poor sounding; the reverb in one of the 1st generation Behringer v-amps blows it away, in my view. Ask me about any other Dano, and I'd give a thumbs-up. Reverb, no.

Just over 100 dollars for real spring reverb is not bad. Not sure what your budget is, but this is a fun pedal with a good range of sounds. You have to like spring reverb though. it's not going to give you those Carnegie Hall sounds, but it's a nice Fendery sounding reverb.
aberrant July 3rd, 2008, 10:02 AM With regards to your needs, I'd have to point towards the Verbzilla from Line 6 or the Digi-verb from Digitech.
+1 on the Holy Grail though...and it's the only reverb I've ever seen with Flerb...I believe it's a flanger/reverb mix. There's just nothing else like it.
teleclem July 3rd, 2008, 11:46 AM what more can you say but the line 6? interested too
Chris Callahan July 3rd, 2008, 12:11 PM I just ordered the Line 6 from MF. On back order 'til 7/21 but there's a rebate right now af an extra tone core unit with purchase.
I was super impressed with the sound samples. I hope it really is that awesome!
