Essex Boy June 27th, 2008, 05:17 PM I recently bought a G&L TRibute ASAT Special. It's my 3rd tele. I really want to upgrade the pots/switch/knobs on it. I'm going to wire in Callaham Cryo Pots/Switch and I would love some of their knurled flat-top knobs on it, but at like £30 for a pair, that's just way way too expensive. Are there any comparable & cheaper alternatives?

Not that I'm aware of, and the Glendale kobs are equally high priced.
The J5 Tele knobs apparently have a coarse knurl, but 1) I think they're domed, not flat topped, and 2) you'd have to order them from a Fender dealer.

The J5 knobs have flat tops and a coarse knurl. I have a set I bought used in the garage sale. I also priced them through a local Fender dealer. I forget exactly how much the price was new, seems like it was $25 or less for the pair.

Just a little under what you're saying above, 25 pounds
yegbert June 27th, 2008, 05:55 PM You could put some Mojo in your Tele with these (http://www.mojomusicalsupply.com/item.asp?pid=80102&pg=13962&id=2112360).

Unless Callaham's cryogenic treatment loosens them up, in my experience the flat bottom CTS pots like those Callaham pictures in the prewired setup pictured below are stiffer turning than the dimpled bottom ones like those from Mojo.
Flat357 June 27th, 2008, 06:43 PM I posted some cheap alternatives for a few quid here .

Essex Boy June 28th, 2008, 05:52 AM Thanks a lot guys.
Essex Boy June 28th, 2008, 05:56 AM Looks like I might have to bite the bullet and get some Callahams though. Oh well...not too bad, only a one off.
The Bestron June 28th, 2008, 06:23 AM you've got nice and cheap knobs at Gregg Rogers www.grguitars.com and a VERY cheap alternative is www.guitarfetish.com (http://www.guitarfetish.com) (but the quality is so-so, although I bet you won't find a better price/quality ratio)

Did you order directly from Callaham? If so, expect your stuff soon. The quickest I got an order from Callaham was 3-working days and the slowest was 6-working days. Awesome stuff and awesome service.
