fisheye?JasonRobert June 27th, 2008, 11:06 AM just a quick question... is fisheye the same as orange peel? Cole June 27th, 2008, 11:29 AM nope... fisheye is a term for a crater in the paint that is usually caused by some sort of contamination between the paint and the surface.... Water, oil and silicone are the three major culprits. When you wetsand out imperfections in the basecoat, sometimes there will be traces of water left that will cause fish eye to occur. Orange peel is typically the result of improper painting technique, and is caused by the quick evaporation of thinner, incorrect spray gun setup (e.g., low air pressure or incorrect nozzle), spraying the paint at an angle other than perpendicular, or applying excessive paint. castpolymer June 27th, 2008, 11:47 AM Fisheye can generally be remedied with a good filter on your airline. Just the act of compressing air causes moisture to condense in air lines. Than water along with other nasties like oil, will travel through your gun and into the media you are spraying. Hope this helps. |
