Would a 3/4 case work?

I have an 000-15 also. I'd spend the $ and get an original Martin case, the least expensive hard case of the 3 styles they have. Fits mine nice and tight, no guesswork. You can get a good deal from Maury's on one.

Its odd that on the newer stuff, Martin and Gibson cases are exactly the same except for the color of the lining. Both are made in Canada

johnnykf:

thanks for the tip on Maury's - never visited before - looks like I can get a 300 series in the 000 size for 109.99 with free delivery -

Sid, I'm glad I could help.
I never dealt with them but I hear they are great to work with. I heard that if you visit their shop in PA and want to buy a Martin that they don't have in stock, they'll drive to the factory and get a nice fresh one for you while you wait.

May as well get something good that will protect a nice guitar like yours and fit nice and snug. The green lining is cool also.

Maury is a great guy but $109.00 is a bit spendy.

Elderly charges $82.00 for the 330 series Martin Case.

They've gone up a little. I bought a 330 series Martin case for a D12X1 (12 string) three years ago (from Elderly) for $75.

Thanks for the suggestion studio,

I was relieved to find out that with 24.66 shipping the Elderly price of $82 would have been only 3 bucks cheaper than the Maury's free shipping price.

I think Elderly ships free at $100. Buy 4 packs of strings.

I shouldn't be pushing, Maury is considered a Saint over on the UMGF. He's a good guy. He had a D15 12 with a K&K Pure Western pickup in it for $699 used on his web site. It went up on his site on a Friday. I called him at 8:01 AM on Monday and he laughed...I was the 6th guy calling to buy it.

He was very nice. I live in WI and wound up buying the D12X1 from Elderly in MI.

Received the case today - very nice and a perfect fit -

but

WEIRDLY - has the impression of a six stringer in the lid - like a guitar has been stored in it - made that way?

AND - a new end pin in the storage compartment - along with new care and feeding of your Martin guitar literature too - nice to have - but is case used?

The Martin box looked new and factory sealed.

Even if - slightly - used - the case is perfect and perfectly fine with me - I'd rather keep than hassle the return.

Martin ships the 15 and 16 series guitars in that type of case. My bet is that someone ordered a 15 or 16 series guitar from Maury and upgraded the case. The one you got may have been one that a new guitar was in when it left the factory. I'd be surprised if that case ever left Maury's shop until he sent it to you.

Makes sense 'cause the case is immaculate save for the gentle impression of having held a six string breifly- that and the little 'case candy' would agree with your theory.

I think thats exactly it. And since he is so close to Martin, it would be very easy to fetch an upgrade for someone, without having to stock the fancy ones. It's an option with most Martin dealers but they have to special order.

I haven't dealt with Maury but I know people who have. And pulling anything shady would be way out of character from what I know of Maury.

I think it's a great idea to have a case for acoustics, even if it's a cheap one (in the Martin world  ).

I am big on cases for my guitars - and didn't mind the bucks on this one as the guitar was "free" - I paid to have some trash trees taken down at my fence line - including some on my neighbor's side that he wanted down too - he offered to chip in - I said how about that Martin you don't play? - he agreed and so he "gave" it to me - at least that's what I tell myself. (Since I wanted the trees down whether he paid or not I'm not lying that hard to myself . . .)

WhooHoo! And the 000-15 is one of my favorites. Actually in my quote I was joking about getting a case for the cheap guitar (for a Martin). What are they going for now... $1,000?

I honestly prefer a good TKL case to the Martin case. Not the lower end TKL.
