Eddie, if you didn't like the Me-50 then forget about the GT10, its very in depth and doesnt necessarily sound better!!
Maybe try a vox tonelab or give up.

I've heard great things about those vox's. Can't say the same about the Boss's but I don't have any personal experience with either. Why did you want one anyway?

I have one, it's not bad. They've improved the wah's since the gt8. You can find forums here: http://bossgtcentral.com/forum/index.php

Yep. The GT10 is better than the GT8 in the amp modeling department. Tone loss from the A/D D/A conversions seems less intrusive too.

It's still not as authentic as a juicy tube amp, but it does a good job IMHO. The dynamics and responsiveness are better too.

It should sound great if you run it through a tube poweramp (or the FX Loop return on your amp). The tubes will add punch, body, and some of that top end magic that only comes from a good tube poweramp.

YMMV.

I have a GT8 that took me 6 months to learn how to use... lol (it was my first Boss multi-effector) I can get good distortion and overdrive tones, but the clean tones are a bit weak and "plastic" sounding...

When the GT10 first came out, I was really hoping they had improved the clean tones. Many people claim the GT10 sounds better, but when I demo'd a GT10, I didn't notice any improvement, at least not with the tones I compared.

In my experience, the preset clean tones on the GT10 sounded exactly the same as those on my GT8.

One nice feature the GT10 has over the GT8 is the USB out. With my GT8, I had to buy a special MIDI interface so I could deep-edit the patches. I believe the USB connectivity of the GT10 means you can do deep editing without any special interface, and it should be much easier to record the GT10 direct to your computer too, no special sound card required.

Maybe with some tweaking you could get better clean tones with the GT10, but I didn't hear a big difference straight out of the box.

I do like my GT8, and through a tube amp that has it's own quality clean tone, the GT8 opens up a lot of doors. Now that the GT10 is out, the GT8's are going really cheap. I'm thinking of getting another GT8 as a backup to my first one.

The cleans are still not as good as a fine tube amp - nope. That's what I'm wrestling with lately.

Whoa, are you kewlpack that frequents the Boss GT Central forums? I used a lot of those GT8 patches that you had. Good stuff!

I've been using a GT8 for over a year now and like it. I use my Boogie for crunch and distortions and seldom if ever use the amp modelling.
Where can I access Kewlpack's patches ?

KP may well chime in later, but if you enter: kewlpack patches into google, the first two links should get you started. Also, in the GT-8 Patches Only section here: http://bossgtcentral.com/forum/index.php

It's funny how people have different views on sound. I actually find the cleans on the GT 8 to be real good but you have to work a bit to get them in the zone. I am not much a fan of the distortions at all, except in small amounts. Kewlpack's forum was a real help figuring the unit out and taming the beast so to speak. Thanks Kewlpack for the great site and special thanks to your forum members.

I'll be sticking with the 8 for awhile probably won't jump untill another couple of Boss mfx releases.

Yes, thank you Kewlpack. Without your patches, I never would have figured out my GT8.

Stu, I checked out your bands mp3's, can you point out the tunes that have GT8 clean tones? Thanks!

Jay,
Cutting ZZZ's at 1:54 Done with a Yamaha APX 6a with monaural piezo pickup through a clean GT 8 homemade patch.

Icefog Inside was done primarily on the GT 8 except 1 lead track that kicks in at 1:36. In the initial opening of that song from 0:00 to 0:17 you will hear two layered guitar tracks (both Yamaha APX 6a -monaural piezo). Both are homemade patches from the GT 8. One is real ice picky but keep in mind it's a piezo pickup and most of the notes are B string played between the 9th and 12th frets.

Those are the only songs I've used the Gt 8 for, all the rest are done with different software based processors.

I use the GT10. I like it alot. Im using the 4 cable method and my Deluxe combo as the exclusive preamp.
For what i use the machine for, its about as perfect multi-fx unit i have ever used.
I love the distortions except the Fuzz is a little harsh ( i need to fiddle with it more) , Advanced compressor, Looper and Harmonizer. Reverbs arent bad, Chorus and Delays are very clean as well as the Tremolo and Vibrato. The wah sounds like a wah to me and the Volume control is smooth.

Since i use my tube amp as the core and 4CM the GT10 into it, i had to turn on the Send/Receive for every patch and then change the placment in the effect chain to reflect it being used as my tube pre-amp. After i did that, it sounded ALOT like my other board that i used with single pedals.

This GT-10 has more gizmos than i need but the selling point was its compact, its built like a tank and it sounds very well when you dial it in right.

$499.00 for a "Great" MFX pedal isnt bad. I have paid more and got less in the past.

I dont care for the Tuner and the lights are WAYY to bright. But, i modified mine to take care of all that so its no longer an issuie.

Try one and if you like it, buy it. Or buy it and tinker with it at home for 29 days and return it. But TINKER with it.. dont let the presets sell themselves .
