Need Help

Hi ,a bass player friend of mine is looking for a paisley tele bass.
Does anybody know if they made them in Japan in the 80's.
The 80's made in Japan paisley guitars are so much better than the newer CIJ.
So he wonders if that's the case for the basses too.

I don't know when they started making them, but I've played some fairly recent examples that were extremely fine instruments!

I've never seen any reissues besides the ones they made about 5 years ago. Don't mean they never did but I can't find a thing about a prior reissue.
