Orange Squeezer clones

Has anyone had any experience with a clone of the Orange Squeezer?

I like the sound of compression in country-style guitar but just can't seem to make the Ross-clones work for me. I thought an Orange Squeezer knock-off might get me at least in the compression direction and with its supposedly added gain, well, that would suit me quite nicely.

I'm actually building one right now. Unfortunately not all the parts I ordered arrived so now I'm waiting around to fire it up. It's a VERY basic circuit so I honestly can't see anyone screwing it up. Considering how basic it is I also find it hard to justify paying $160+ for one of the boutique versions.

I really like the Frantone Compressors...The sandwich gives you the ability to control the limit and the compression...and the Sputnik is awesome simplicity IMO.

I have an AnalogMan Juicer - a high quality clone of the Armstrong Orange Squezer. This is the compressor for me. Perfect amount of squash, sustain, and adds a little girth to the notes. I'd highly recommend it.

I own an original Ross and although it's great for what it does it's no Orange Squeezer. The fast attack and better the release of the Orange Squeezer is what I love most. There are a bunch of knock-off clones that are better than the original. My favorite is one made by Baja Tech Custom. Analogman makes one and there's even some do it yourself ones if you know electronics and have the time.

Love the Pedalworx McSqueeze in so many regards, and does a nice clean boost when the switch goes down, too...OS comp-types are indeed so sweet for bossting things and warming up the mids. :razz:
