24 Free Mastering And Mixing Vst Plug-ins

Link from a post on the Sonar forums. I have a few of these plug ins the top two listed are very good.

PS the Antarres plugins are real good. Heard them compared to some of the Nomad Factory Blue Tubes stuff.

I have the C3 multiband compressor. I was just messing around with it today and I liked it. I was able to tame some low frequencies on my acoustic track and still maintain the higher frequencies.

I also have the Blockfish and Kjaerhus compressors. I haven't employed either seriously yet. Maybe I will mess around with them tonight and report back.

I do have the Kjaerjus chorus and have been using it quite a bit likely. I like it.

When I get this hard drive figured out I will definitely snag the rest. I have an email tech support ongoing with the manufacturer but my research shows others having the same problem and no solution has presented itself. I will probably end up sending it back and ordering something else.

Do you mean the Antress? They look like fun.

Among the older ones:

I think Charles Dye mentions using Blockfish on the Womb site. It can really make a heavenly thunder.

Colortone Free has some nice warm settings, but it will only work with a copy protection software called Pluggo Runtime, and it's not worth that mess. I'd think you can do as well elsewhere.

The Voxengo hogs a lot of screen space. Is the guy ever going to improve his GUIs? I'd buy 'em! Jeepers!

I keep reading about plug-ins and heres my question. Where do you put them when you down load, do they put themselves in there on directery? I know enough just to get in trouble. Should I just down load them but I'm afraid it will mess my computer up. Will they appear in cakewalk when I open the program? Will they be part of the FX's that come with cakewalk.

Usually you have to unzip them after downloading. Your program for unzipping will ask you where you want them. I am sure Stu can tell you exactly where to point them for Cakewalk. You won't screw up your computer. Once they are unzipped to the correct folder they will show up with FX in Cakewalk.

I like keeping any third party vst's seperate from one's included with the program. I create a new folder in my c drive and call it downloadedplugins and unzip all the downloads into this new folder.

I'm assuming Music creator is like older versions of Sonar. You would open MC go up to the Tools menu, go to VST Configuration and a window will popup showing where your program scans for plugins. Hit the add button and a little browser opens. Click the c drive icon then click the folder icon that says downloadedplugins and hit okay. Hit next and the program will scan your folder c:/downloadedplugins and add these plugins into the program.


EDIT: The reason I keep them seperate is in case I ever uninstall the program, I won't ever have to worry that I would loose all the downloads and it's real easy pointing other programs to a simple folder on the c drive.

Are these only good in cakewalk?

They are good in any program that can host vst plugins like Sonar, Cubase, Reaper, Live,Traction.

I haven't gone through the full list but some of these are probably available in AU or RTAS format for mac based programs.

I opened up some room on my hard drive and started playing. There are over 20 Modern plugins alone. This is close to 50 free plugins. Most I have not seen before. Great catch Stu. These Antress plugins can be useful, me thinks.
