What tempo do you play "Your Beloved"?

I'm in the Wednesday Night worship band. Last time out, our worship leader was sick, so we had a last-moment leader, a last-moment set list, a last-moment sound-check and run-through.

We never ran through the last song, "Your Beloved". (http://www.lyricsdownload.com/vineyard-your-beloved-lyrics.html) Our drummer used to be the keyboardist, but went off to grad school for a few years, the few years where we did that song.

We normally do it as a fairly slow and leisurely pace where we can find the soul in it. The drummer played it double-time. He made it a rock song. I kinda noodled on top of it a while before I figured out what song we were trying to do. And he swears he's only ever heard it as a fast song.

So, I ask all of you: What tempo do you all play it at?

Slow and leisurely where I can find the soul-groove. However, I'm constantly changing tempo on other songs - usually to slow down fast ones. It can give them a completely different character and make them 'new' again. Don't be afraid to try it...

Personally, I just can't picture this one fast. It's one of my favorites and a special song to me because it's one that I chose to lead, one of the first times I ever was asked to lead out in a full-church setting. Of course, that was ten years ago and tastes have changed since then, so what do I know??

I would only ever do it slow, though. It's meant as a more contemplative kind of thing.

I've always done it slow. This song has had great significance for me at times, so I guess I kind of only hear it one way. Such an awesome song, though.
