Hi,
I'm trying to install the Gotoh vintage, Kluson-style tuners on a neck drilled for 11/32" tuners. I'm finding that the holes are a bit too small, although the specs say that the bushing diameter is .346". I don't want to split the wood, so how tight should these fit? Should I be able to press them in by hand?
Thanks!
Rob

If you can press them in by hand...they are a tad loose....for what I consider a proper fit, they should just begin to enter the hole, then require a small c-clamp w/ protective pads to bring them flush...just use common sense and feel so you don't split the wood.

A drill press is great for pushing in the bushing if you have one. Turn the chuck until the three ....... uh, uh ......... bit grabbers extend from the chuck. Saw a picture of someone else in the forum using that method so I tried it. Worked great.

Thanks, Jack! I don't have a drill press yet, so I'll try the clamp method. I'm used to the Schaller style tuners so this is a new adventure in guitar assembly:)

I use the method described by by Buckocaster51 in The Buttercaster Project (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaster-discussion-forum/57096-buttercaster-project.html) thread. The discription of the tuner installation starts here (http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaster-discussion-forum/57096-buttercaster-project-12.html#post634870).
Works for me.
