ummm... looking for ideas regarding a good overdrive match for my current rig. I've tried all the OD pedals in my blue-collar pedal library, and they're just not getting me there. Looking for Stones-ish crunch, alt-country or roots rock tones. Want something that sounds like the amp, just turned up :-)

'62 RI Tele (MIJ), stock pickups -- played into tweed 5F4 Super clone (Marsh) with old CTS alnico speakers. Cranked it sounds lovely, clean it sounds fantastic... moderate volume with OD pedal, pretty HO-HUM.

I've tried:
Boss OD-3 -- good match for my Princeton Reverb (warms up that amp nicely) but not very interesting with the tweed (mushy).
Ibanez TS-9 modded to 808 -- best match so far... I never liked it with the PR, but sounds decent enough with the 5f4. Didn't expect that?
Boss SD-1 -- closer to the TS, sounds better at higher gain settings (but I don't really need those settings).
Marshall Bluesbreaker II -- not bad, but also a moderately aggressive, higher-gain sound than I really need.
Dano FAB overdrive -- not bad either (not great), sorta like a strangely EQ'd TS.
Dano FAB distortion -- if I were a grunge guy, this would be the pedal.
Bad Monkey -- close second to the TS.

It's just odd, I'd pretty much give up on the TS and TS-like pedals when using my PR, but finding that they're ok with the 5F4.

What do you like with your tweed or tweed-inspired amp, in the context of tele-style pickups?

i'm a big fan of the Xotic AC Booster and the Fulltone OCD. either would fit the bill for what you're describing.
