Toneport. recording software question

On the recommendation of getbent, I got myself one of these critters and I must say, it's all he said it was and more. Great sounding and a lot of fun for doing quick easy recordings.

Sort of.

I didn't have multitracking software and installed the Ableton Lite that comes with the device. It seems kind of limited. Only four tracks. And I can't seem to get it to put finished work into a .wav file that will work, or am able to burn to CD.

I was wondering, what software would you all recommend, at a reasonable (cheap) price?

Anyone have experience with ACID? Or any of the other lower end multitrack programs? Will ACID work with the Toneport?

if you are on a pc why not use reaper? its free. Acid is more of a loop building application... or you could just buy the FULL version of Live!

The toneport is a great capture device for recording... and it takes care of that part, but you still need the recording software solution.

What he said! Reaper (http://www.reaper.fm/) is my go-to recording software. It's only free if you don't pay for it, however... ($50 is the non-commercial use price, but you can evaluate it for free, pretty much as long as you want)

Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/), while nowhere near as feature-filled as Reaper, is also free.

Toneport user/fan here. I have the UX2.

I recommend Audacity. It's free and it's really easy to use and intuitive.
I have a little experience with ACID and I think it would work well for say, building drum tracks with the loops, and then importing that to Audacity, to then record guitar tracks using your Toneport onto Audacity.

Magix Music Studio is very reasonably priced and relatively easy to use:

Another vote for Reaper. It really makes Audacity look like a toy and you can't go wrong with the free evaluation. Good luck.

I picked up reaper at the recommendation of the guys here. Works quite well with my UX1.

Looks like the early consensus is Reaper. It looks pretty decent. Ableton is OK, I guess, but not very intuitive and the Lite version is pretty limiting. Upgrading to the full version is a couple of hundred bucks.

Live Lite has been upgraded to Live Lite 7 which apparently supports a combination of up to eight audio or MIDI tracks.

I do not use Live but it might be worth checking to ascertain whether you can download a free upgrade. Details of the upgraded Live Lite will be on the Ableton site together with elegibility details.

Eight tracks isn't much in the computer recording realm. If you're determined not to spend much money, I don't see how you can go wrong with Reaper.

I like to use Tracktion 3
I find it very easy to use... but it can get as complicated as you want..
plus it comes with fairly decent final mix filters

only thing I don't like is that it doesn't make me sound like a professional...

I keep looking for the suck control in these programs, but they must hide it pretty deep in the coding.
Haven't had much time to mess with my recording rig. Been rehearsing for a Father's Day gig and had my son's HS graduation. (Yee-Haa!)
But I did download Reaper and what little time I spent with it, it looks good.
