Don Miller June 5th, 2008, 11:58 AM There are some reviews of the Royal Albert Hall CD at the Clarence White Forum.
Theres alot of live Byrds stuff available. Heres a link to a zip file of a show they did at Ash Grove...not the imfamous "Byrds as a Bar Band" show but another one...it unzips to mp3s...follow the link.
The Byrds appear to have had a fairly standard set list for their live shows during the McGuinn-White-Battin-Parsons days...theyd mix 'em up a little but not much...they would vary the songs within the list....changes in the intros, breaks, etc......and Clarence was like a musical kalidescope..never the same thing twice...and then, like any live band there were good nights, and not so good nights.
The Version of "Soldiers Joy" on this ash grove show is incredible...how a mortal could play like that is beyond me....

Thanks for the link! I'm playing it right now. The band is in fine form and the sound quality is excellent.
dmt101proof June 7th, 2008, 09:35 AM I'd love to download the AshGrove concert but can't get past the bloody silly security section - trying to work out which indistinct squiggle looks like a ****ing cat!!!!
Is this available anywhere else?
Don Miller June 7th, 2008, 10:53 AM I dont know about any secuity section..Are you scrolling down to where it sez "Link"?...right below the song listing...click on that and you go to a "Rapidshare " page...hit "free download"...and follow the instructions...you should be in like flynn..
Is the security thing something on your computer or your ISP??

I'm with you.
That is IMHO the stupiest and hardest security device to figure out.
The cats all look the same to me behind the printed characters.
BrianF June 7th, 2008, 11:36 AM There's several download server choices...one of which comes selected when you click into the rockingbyrd link. If you jsut go with whatever server is selected...sometimes you DO get that security question that you have to decipher. It is tricky. I think it's easier to figure out which ones are the dogs...the others are the cats (aka ****ing cat) LOL.
Try one of the other download server choices. Sometimes I get the security question and sometimes don't and haven't figured out why. One way or another you can get your download. Just keep trying.
I just tried it again...seems like the Rapidshare thing has been changed...looks like a new page and yes I did have to decipher the cats versus dogs and it is tricky. Try looking for the dogs...they seem easier to spot.
Don Miller June 7th, 2008, 12:54 PM yikes...that is crazy...

Yes, but it keeps the thieves from using programs to reset their IP and to then use a subroutine to automatically steal the service. By using the dogs and cats (or whatever), it slows them down. If you pay for the service, you don't get the dogs and cats or download limits.
Don Miller June 7th, 2008, 03:47 PM Yeah..I know why a site like that would use some sort of security system to keep the bots, etc out...but that particular one ..the method (cryptic drawings of dogs, cat and fish?) is wierd...
Dogbear June 7th, 2008, 09:51 PM cryptic drawings of dogs, cat and fish
Agreed, why not just Dogs and Bears.................
