The way I approach it is I'm doing business with TDPRI members and the TDPRI Garage Sale is simply a means to advertise and find advertisements, to connect TDPRI members who want to buy, sell and swap. Because it's each of those members you have to decide whether to trust, not the Garage Sale. I look at how long a member advertising has been a member, how many posts, and what the member has said in those posts; and I decide whether it's worth the risk.

I think there are members here with whom it is safe to buy and sell gear.

I bought a Blueridge BR-70 from TDPRI member "mistermullens" from Atlanta, Ga. and it was what he said it was.

I've never even given it a second thought. There is something to be said about checking duration of membership and activity. I know the last thing I'd ever want is someone unhappy with a transaction venting on the TDPRI.

common sense rules...I've sold a couple of things with no problem. I wouldn't buy a $1000 guitar off a member with 3 posts but wouldn't hesitate to buy one off a member thats been here for at least a year with many posts.

I've seen ebay listings for USA '90's Thinlines anywhere from $900 to $2500.

This one is listed at $2500.00 or best offer. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=260243250340&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016)

Great Teles, I love mine. What color ya got and any pics?

Oh and welcome back!!!!

My guess is that you are referring to the scammer emails that you will undoubtedly receive when you advertise in the Garage Sale or any other classifieds.

Scammers will email you, you just have to be heads up enough to ignore them. They won't be real people, just software "robots" with bad grammar looking for suckers that aren't wise to their very obvious scams. If you receive emails from folks that say, "I'll take your item" without even bothering to list what your "item" is just ignore them.

Can you get taken by sellers on the Garage Sale? Yes, of course you can. It happens some times. I recently stepped in to rattle the cage on a guy that sold a guitar part to one of our members and then didn't ship the part for 6 months. He had plenty of excuses why, but when push came to shove, he returned the buyers money. (Of course, it did take 6 months!)

I can't work miracles and I don't make ANY guarantees, but generally it's a fairly safe place to advertise. If you can't except this risk then buying and selling on the Internet is not for you.

Is this the very same amp you were trying to sell 2 years ago?

Man, this is my preferred place to buy and sell items. Much better than eBay. Never had a problem, and yes I do have a GA-5 listed.

I bought an item that was damaged in transit. Fortunately, the person who made it offered to repair it for free if I shipped it to him. I told the member who sold it to me, and he refunded the cost of shipping it there and back.
