The recording chain was P-Bass with VV pickup. Radial J48 DI, Bellari MP-103 tube mic-pre (used for phantom power for the DI) gain & output set low, to the interface Protools. No EQ, no compression. Apologies for the sloppy playing but this was more to get the signal chain sorted out. Strings are TIJF's of course ... The Bellari is a low end pre. It's a lot like say the low end Art unit. I'll try the same thing with a passive DI later. That won't require the Bellari in the chain.
When I bought this pickup I asked Pete Biltoft of Vintage Vibe for warm, articulate and punchy. This pickup was the result of that. I think he nailed it.
