Genz Benz BP30 112guitar5 May 4th, 2008, 08:37 PM looking for feedback and opinions on Genz Benz Black Pearl 30. bluesman69 May 4th, 2008, 10:07 PM I've had mine for just over 6 months and it is one of the most responsive amps I've ever played. It is extremely touch sensitive and responds very well to most playing techniques. It has a five position voicing switch that you can use to easily adapt to any guitar. ruger9 May 5th, 2008, 05:25 AM Great amp. Big time sleeper. Super versatile. Has no problem "keeping up" with my Doctor Z RxJR. It's not handwired like all the boutique amps, but it sure as hell sounds like one. Especially once the Eminence Red Fang breaks in & smooths out a bit. I call it the "poor man's Badcat/Matchless". When developing the amp they did use a vintage AC30 as well as a a Matchless DC-30 for "inspiration." You won't regret it. guitar5 May 5th, 2008, 10:52 AM Thanks Bluesman69. I'm playing a Supersonic and want a class A tone and response. Sounds like the way to go. Can't believe how few pickers have heard of this amp! None of my friends even know what I'm talking about. guitar5 May 5th, 2008, 10:56 AM Thanks ruger9. Not worried about the hand wired part either. I own plenty of electronic gear that's not hand wired and it all holds up very well. roger e May 6th, 2008, 01:18 PM I've had mine for over a year. Retubed(EL84's) about a month ago. Love the amp and it takes pedals real well. I use the boost control when I go to a Strat to even things out volume-wise. Indoors, I use it mostly at 15 watts pentode to get more sag. Outside 30 watts really gets it done althought on a big stage I might use a 2nd amp. When I've emailed Jeff Genzler I get a reply the same day. If there is a downside, it's 53 lbs, but it's built like a tank. It's so good the other guitar player in our band bought the BP30 HD. I think the Red Fang is a great choice for the speaker. Just my 2 cents. TELE52 May 6th, 2008, 03:35 PM Seems to be a great amp. What about the sound differencies between the speaker configurations? I would like to try the 3x10 config, but since I live in a small country called Sweden where we have no GB dealers available makes it hard to try it. But I know rewievs and inputs from this site often are correct and true. teejay May 7th, 2008, 08:40 AM I have a BP-30 2x12 here. Great Amp. I am constantly surprised at the sounds that come out of this. My only issue is once I start gigging again I won't be able to move it around (bad back here). So I may have to sell it for a BP 1x12. Teleman May 8th, 2008, 07:27 AM I've had my BP 1-12 for over a year and have probably played 100 gigs with it. Superior tone, no issues, takes pedal great, I absolutely love it. It has replaced my Dr. Z MAZ 18 Jr. which I sold shortly after getting the BP. If you have any questions about the amp and email Genz Benz you'll most likely get a response from Jeff Genzler himself! Highly recommended! |
