Picked me up one of these used, no manual, and I'm wondering what the little switch that reads "Phantom & Ground Connect" does. I'll be using this to record my bass into a firewire interface, and then into Garageband, if that makes a difference to how I should set it. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

You can power it via phantom power from the mixer (assuming your mixer has phantom power), I suppose that switch activates that...

So... If I'm using the power adapter I just leave it off? (sorry if this is a dumb question  )

Yep - leave that one off.
The BDDI - at least recent editions can be powered by battery, phantom power (supplied a dedicated power supply or a mixer), or an external wall wart style power supply. That switch may also have something to do with Ground lift.
Let us know how that turns out for you - or maybe even post us an MP3 !

Yep, that's for the phantom power. If you're using the wall wart, then leave it switched off. I use the phantom power on mine because I plug directly into a PA.

Thanks again. I more or less understand the phantom power thing; just wasn't sure what "ground connect" meant... or "ground lift," as referenced above. Anyway, it's working great (and sounds amazing, given my rudimentary bass playing abilities!)
(edit-hey, I just went from "member" to "tele-meister" - it's a big day for me  )

Directly taken from page 4 of the manual:
Phantom & Ground Connect Switch:
When engaged, the ground connects, and unit will accept phantom power through the XLR Output. Disengaged, the ground of your stage system and other interconnected gear is lifted (isolated) from the ground of the mixing console.
I hope that helps.
