I need some advice regarding the above software .

I can import an audio track , or backing track etc no problem .
I can record guitar etc no problem .

What I can't figure out is how to play a backing track and record over it .
Nor can i seem to record a seperate track . For example , i record a rhythm track .
Then i record a solo .
Solo seems to record directly onto rhythm track .

I'm trying out various software that i have to see which is the best .

Help please

Sound Forge is an audio editor, not a multitrack recorder.

Thanks .
After about 30 minutes looking , I figured that was gonna be the case .

Cheers Stu .

I have Cubase sx2 , Cubasis , Audacity , Ableton Live , Acid Pro 4 , Acid Pro 5 , Fruity loops 5 , Cakewalk Sonar , Soundforge 7 , Wavelab 4 , and a partridge in a pear tree lol

I am using an Edirol UA-25 interface , and i'm sure it's not compatible with certain stuff . Cubase for example is a pain . I understand Cubase a little , but not as far as setting it up goes

Audacity is very basic , but it is so easy and quick to use

Give Tracktion a whirl, it has a real no nonsense feel to it and doesn't seem to be near as intimidating as the others mentioned. Vey unique, everything right there in front of you with not alot of menu diving.
