Bandit March 31st, 2008, 10:28 PM Could someone rattle off some G and some B bender songs. So I can listen to them and compare. I am having a hard time deciding if I want a G or a B bender.
I already think I would use the G bender more often, but the B bender makes more sense, because I find it hard to play the 1st and 2nd string double stop bends.
bender-freak March 31st, 2008, 11:16 PM i strongly advise having both, just a B bend or just a G bend would be somewhat useless for me....i use them both just about equally.....but that is my style; dual bending....others only want a single string bend....i can't say one over the other is better for everyone, am just saying that dual benders are better for me....
G bender songs..???....check out anything by Diamond Rio....all of their stuff relies heavily on both G and B bending ....i am assuming that you are wanting "country" type bends?....as far as rock or pop, i wouldn't have a clue as for who you could listen to.....
jmiles April 1st, 2008, 07:24 AM Do a computer search for Brad Paisley.
SatelliteOrders April 1st, 2008, 07:25 AM G-Bender? That's how Brad Paisley rolls, so dig through his work.
B-Bender? All of the later Byrds work has Clarence White, the first master of the Bender. I'd go with "Deportee" from Ballad of Easy Rider as the go-to from his work there. "All of My Love" by Led Zep and "Unforgiven II" by Metallica also feature the B.
J. Hayes April 1st, 2008, 12:34 PM and then later a HipShot with both the B and G benders. My current #1 guitar is a P/W equipped Telecaster and #2 is another of the same. That being said, at first I missed having the G bender but got over it very quickly! I can live without a G bender but couldn't imagine life without a B Bender. They just work so well on anytype of music. I still have one Tele with a HipShot B & G bender as well as a couple of Epiphones with Bigsby Palm Pedals but they don't see much bandstand gig time...........JH in Va.
sunskippers April 4th, 2008, 07:25 AM Recommended Listenings for B-Bender:
- Ricky Skaggs: Live in London
- Marty Stuart: all albums - especially: Let There Be Country, Hillbilly Rock, Tempted
- The Byrds: Live at Fillmore's
For G-Bender:
- Brad Paisley
- Diamond Rio
I would like to recommended for you the b-bender. The G-Bender sounds more virtuosy and technical but the B-Bender has more pedal-steel-sounds like affort. Listen to this records und you would like to see, that the B-Bender sounds more as a pedal steel.

If I ever go the bender route, I'd probably be interested in the "pedal steel" effect.
But, just to be clear, you have a guitar with two benders in it?
Never heard of that. (Other than the guy who builds guitars with those long metal arms sticking out.)
Sounds interesting.

jmiles April 4th, 2008, 10:48 AM My guitar has a Hipshot double bender. I'm into playing steel guitar stuff with my benders. I am a pedal steel player. I would not want an axe without a G-bender. That's where the most pedal steel-like moves are found. I wish I could put another bender on the first string for a half-step bend, but they're just too wide. And the configuration of the stop screw and string hole would have to be reversed.

a D-tuner for the big E on the headstock....it has a B,G and A string benders on it; picture of the rig is in another thread that has been going around last several days...another rig i have but currently not mounted on anything is a McKenzie floor pedal system which has benders via cables for the small E, B, and G strings; bender for the small E is a half-stop drop which is awesome for pedal steel sounding licks, but the unit is pretty bulky to move around is why it's not on anything right now....
i also like steel guitar sounding licks, which is why i went into bending years ago (early 80's), but quickly found out for my preference, that just a B bend wasn't enough, so i added a G lever to the Hipshot way back when, then later on, added the A bend...more info in the other thread....thanks for the interest...
