are my pups effected by magnetism???rexious March 30th, 2008, 06:11 PM would a bigsby tele bridge effect my pups?? magnetism?? hope i dont sound like a moron!! greggorypeccary March 30th, 2008, 06:39 PM Huh? Pickups are magnets! woodman March 30th, 2008, 08:31 PM you're safe. boneyguy March 31st, 2008, 04:04 AM you're safe. Is he? Is he really?? It's impossible to know that for sure. boneyguy March 31st, 2008, 04:06 AM would a bigsby tele bridge effect my pups?? magnetism?? hope i dont sound like a moron!! Where would the magnetism be coming from that would affect the pickups??? The Bigsby bridge is not magnetic. dallmon March 31st, 2008, 01:46 PM No, changing your bridge should not affect your pickup at all. MBradford6288 April 1st, 2008, 05:09 AM Actually not quite true. It will change the induction in your circuit. You probably won't notice any significant changes, but the amount of metal mass in your circuit does have an effect on the tone. pango_twango April 1st, 2008, 11:53 AM Does seem like it should alter the magnetic lines of force, if only slightly. Though that probably could be said about moving from one place on the earth to another as well  Makes you wonder if the people who play with the "ashtray" on their bridge pickups notice any meaningful difference in tone or output. At least I've never heard complaints. I read somewhere about how the magnets in speakers were affected (though not much that humans could detect) by the way the manufacturers used to bolt the output trannies onto the speaker frame. But it was really one of those "in theory" type of discussions, not a "you'll notice the difference" discussion. boneyguy April 3rd, 2008, 12:33 PM Actually not quite true. It will change the induction in your circuit. You probably won't notice any significant changes, but the amount of metal mass in your circuit does have an effect on the tone. But it's not magnetism that's causing any affect on the circuit and that was the original question. "Are my pickups affected by magnetism?" was the initial question. Well yes of course they would be affected by magnetism but not from the bridge because the bridge is non-magnetic. If there is an affect from the bridge it's not as a result of magnetism. wierdOne April 3rd, 2008, 12:36 PM go get a magnet and try it out... that bigsby bridge should be fine.... but not sure if I'd go out and buy a bridge made from neodymium magnets anytime soon.... |
