I still can't believe that I can plug my $300 CV 50's Tele into my $300 SCDX and get the sounds that I do out of this setup !! Man, all the money I've wasted over the years chasing this tone, and here it is on the cheap. I only wish we had gear like this when I was starting out in the '60's . @Czeck-1-2 Thanks for the info., I think I'm still leaning towards the C10R, since at least I've heard them in the PRRI (which I love). Besides that I know the price of AlNiCo has gone up lately, but Yowza I just priced them, it's twice the price of the Creamic ones. That goes against my cheapskate nature. @Chicago Slim You have the C10R, do you think that it still leaves the tweed tones a little distinct, or does it just turn them into more variations of channel 1 ? Even though I love channel 1, I still like to be able to get a little different flavor with voice 2 on channel 2. ______ Oh, and something else, I've discovered the secret of voice 4 on channel 2. Shhh... don't tell anyone but... I Love how channel 1 sounds with all my single coils (and my Bardens), but my 'bucker guitars were awfully mid-rangey much harsher, louder , and compressed sounding. I had to EQ like crazy to even things out on most of the voices. I've found that if you use voice 4 with a gain of about 5 or 6 (no more than that), that you can keep the same EQ settings as channel 1, and the sound is almost identical to single coils on channel 1. Even the volume levels correspond to the same numbers on the dials. Channel 2, voice 4 with humbuckers is sounding almost identical to channel 1 with single coils (NICE) ! Makes it really easy to switch guitars, I just switch channels with the foot switch, and all the numbers are the same for EQ and volume. Hopefully this makes sense the way I've described it. ______ Still, I'm looking to possibly put a C10R in for a little more clean loudness overall, but I'd like to have the variation of different sounds. I'm hoping that the Jensen won't turn this into 17 slightly different variations of the same sound. This thing sounds so nice that I'm afraid to change too much ! - Jay

Very smart of them to put in a voice for higher gain pickups to be able to get those clean tones of channel 1. It all makes sense now. I can't believe it took me almost 3 weeks of screwing around with settings to figure it out. Fender really put some thought into the design this amp. - Jay

Yeah, they put some thought in to designing it, and then didn't put much money into making it!! but you've got to give this little amp the cred it deserves. It sings, it cries, it wails, and it rocks. I love mine, still 100% stock (but it's been biased to 40 thingamijigs).

Well, I've got a C10Q in mine... the tweed tones are definitely different from the blackface tones. I don't think you'll find a speaker that will negate that difference!
I like this speaker for this amp, myself. |

I love mine ! It's stock - I used it for a recording date today. The client loved the tones and the fact that I didn't have to create lots of volume. Regards.
