I will still Mod it just need the Schematics but I'm also
thinking of building my own amp the way I want it.
This amp's MV is not PPIMV it is wired like a Marhall plexi. This type of MV isn't that good as tone is affected when turning down the MV.

My second RX jr. The best country amps... Period!
I have two, because I leave one at church. Why two of the same amp? Well, I don't like variety! I found my tone for my style. Playing something other than my rig is a compromise, and I long for my tone. I'm too old to lug it back and forth too...

I was all set to get a Maz 38 until I read this thread. Now I'm wondering if I should get the Maz 18 because of comments that the 38 is too loud. Is it too loud to get the break up point, or just the point of opening up for fullness?

Does the 18 have enough headroom to give you the choice of running it clean or slightly dirty without driving the sound man crazy?

I know the 38 is loud at the break up point...

I'll be using it with pedals for all kinds of gigs- rock, country, variety- r&b, jazz, etc.

Thanks for the input. Looking forward to joining the club!!!!!

Do you get useable clean or "just breaking up" sounds at club volumes with the RX Jr.?

I get useable cleans, and the praise team is a 6 piece with 5 singers. It is plenty loud... but remember, I'm in church! We don't crank it, but we do have a pastor that beats the heck out of the skins...

I play something else in the bedroom, dude!

The 18 was more than I needed for where and what I play. My stages are a bit lower-key volume-wise than typical weekend-band venues. The 8 gets me the tone I want at the level I am comfy with - it also gets me more tone variation thru my fingers than I personally got with the 18.

The guy I traded with is happy as well, since he needed more volume for what he does.

Heads up folks, Dr. Z just announced that they're discontinuing the Prescription ES, Prescription Jr., and the Galaxie on Facebook. Get 'em while you can!

"The first Maz 18 was a smallbox combo. I've only seen one other one. "

Here's mine. Likely the second one built. Celestion Blue 12. Doc called me one Saturday, and asked me to bring my old '57 Strat to his shop. He was fine-tuning the prototype Maz Jr.. All I did was play, and sometimes comment that I liked the first cap better than the second cap that he had subbed in. We were both quite stunned by how good the amp sounded. It was the two ten version. The last thing I played,,, I dropped the low E to D, and strummed a D13th chord. Now that chord has some interesting dissonance's in it. The articulation was just wonderful! Mike and I just looked at each other, and said, "Yeah!" Drove my Dad's car down to Florida the next day. Couldn't get the amp outa my mind. Called him two or three days later, and said I had to have one. But Doc knew I had a fondness for Celestion Blues, so I got this one on my return to Cleveland. A wonderful amp! And I feel very honored that it was tuned to my playing my old '57!
I also have an early Prescription. But that's another story!

Good story there Mr. Miles! That thing looks like new! Bet it sounds great with all your Hipshot equipped geetars!

The last year or so I've been playing a Z28 with an open back 1x12....always wanted to try a Celestion Blue in the cabinet (guess I'd need to go to 2x12, or I'd be likely to blow just one)! It's got a greenback in it now. Wish I could get my hands on a couple more Z's!

Here's my even older Prescription. 2 Blues. I can't seem to get Neil Zaza to give it back! It's in his Akron studio.

A few months back I traded a Valley Arts Custom Pro straight up for a Dr. Z Maz 38. I'd been using this Bad Cat Classic Cat head, that sounds phenomenal, however I'm definitely a Z man now. With that said, anyone want to buy a Bad Cat?

Not sure anyone posted this yet. It's a short video about Dr. Z.
