Count me in...

I used that gmail to reach him a couple weeks back. He said it's better to mod myself or get a friend that knows how...that his backlog is almost at a year. I think I'm going to try to build a couple pedals before I venture into my amp.

I got my Blues Junior a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm just trying to learn to play again (picking it up again after a few years away).

Thanks to all for input on Billm mods and replacement speakers so far. The Cannabis Rex solution sounds good on several levels. I'm still waiting for a standby switch from Billm. Then I'll go ahead with the basic mods and drop in a new speaker at the same time.

Bill emailed me that he has been totally jammed with business and back orders.

My reaction to this is that is:

I'M HAPPY BILL IS IN SUCH DEMAND! THAT MEANS THAT HE MUST BE DOING GOOD BY ALL OF US BLUES JR. PLAYERS!

I'll be patient with Bill and hope that my local tech will be able to do the mods right. Wish I could do it myself.

I wonder if I should slow down and do even more mods - all at once - if the local tech sounds like he can handle it.

One more thing - what's the best reverb fix?

New member of the club

Picked up mine this weekend, and I'm loving how my Tele sounds through it
when it's cranked up. It's the blonde/brown version and I like that look.
I'm not one to mod things all the time, but I'm tempted by the Jensen speaker upgrade I've read and heard. I'll play it for a while and see.
Great little amp!

Hey everyone, I just joined the forum and was wondering if I could get some opinions on a rather unpleasant sound I'm getting from my brand new Blues Jr.. For example, If I have the volume knob at 10 and the master at 3 I hear a noise reminiscent of a filament in a dead light bulb. However, If I crank the master and leave the volume on lets say 3 there's no noise. I've tapped the tubes and none of them seem to make any sound at all and the noise doesn't seem to be coming from the speaker. I'm digging everything about this wonderful amp besides that noise! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same issue. Also tapped on the tubes and nothing. But thAt's just exactly what it was. Try putting in some new preamp tubes and see what happens.
Let us know. Good luck!

I got as close as I could to the amp while strumming the guitar and it sounds like the reverb tank is making the sound. I do have all new tubes on their way but it really does sound like the reverb tank is the culprit!

Could have tried moving each pre amp valve along to the next socket to see it it was just one valve.

So I unplugged the reverb tank and the noise was nonexistent. Plug it back in that there it is! I'm going to get it replaced since its under warranty. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Maybe you should just consider upgrading the crappy stock reverb tank anyway.
I hear a lot of folks around here have been happy with these. Only 30 bucks.........

Blues Senior?

Mojo pine cab (Twin size), two Celestions, 6V6 tubes. Looking for a larger spring reverb unit (any suggestions would be appreciated). This amp started its life as a stock Tweed BJ.

Beautifull man! Your so lucky over there being able to get things like that cab. Here in the UK I have to be happy with changing the stock EL84's rom stock to JJ's. Which worked out very nicely indeed thank you...

It's called Western Tolex, and the grill is Marshall Cane. I'd like to come up with a decent custom logo, but so far I'm striking out with suppliers. Haven't plugged into my Bassman or Twin since getting this thing wired up.

I think you're going to like it. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best bang-for-the-buck going.
