Victoria amps!
Thought I'd get the ball rolling.
I've got a 1X12 Victoriette -That's the 18w 2X EL-84 model. It came with a Jensen P12Q in it, which is a great sounding speaker, but I swapped it out for a Cannabis Rex. Basically, I went from a tweed sounding amp to a blackface. Exactly what I wanted. I like to describe the sound of it as a blackface Deluxe that just stepped off the plane from London. It's got the chimey/jangly top end of a Vox, but the punch of a Deluxe. I've been a member of the victoriaamps newsgroup, but I find it to be a bit of a pain in the butt having to deal with the newsgroup format. Hopefully we can use this thread as a place to gather everything Victoria related! |

Cool!
I've had a 512, 20112T, and Victoriette. The 20112 is a tremendous 5E3 clone. I got to play through a real old beatup Fender Tweed Deluxe (in good electronic shape), and the Victoria version sounds almost exactly the same and broke up at the same spot. All this plus it can withstand modern 120vac line voltage much better than the originals still in use. I used the 512 much more though, because the 20112 was still too loud at most of my low volume venues (dinner jazz resturants, etc). The Victoriette blew the first night on a louder bandstand and I couldn't wait with my money tied up so basically made the store take it back for a full refund so I could get something else. Someday I might try one again, but more likely something smaller. I just don't need much power anymore. |

Did anyone here buy that Victoria bassman 410 piggyback that was for sale a couple of months ago?
..since that's what I'm turning my 59RI into (a matter of reducing the weight of the individual bits I keep dragging up and down stairs), I'd be interested in hearing about it...

I love my 20112. Is sounds great with any guitar I've put through it, and both the clean and dirty are so good it's sometimes hard to choose between them.

It blew the fuse while playing and the replacement instantly upon lighting the amp off directly after. I'm thinking it was prolly a tube, but figured THEY could figure it out, not me... I tried it out in a store and it was a good sound (and had reverb, which I thought was cool at the time). Seemed the right size. That night was not a high volume venue, just a bit more than usual and I wanted some headroom more than the lil' amps I usually like to use. Who knows? It traveled on the seat to the gig, and worked for a couple of songs when it started acting up. This was YEARS ago BTW. I've never ever had any other trouble with a Victoria before or since. They remain my favorite amp of all time, but lately I'm using a Blues Deluxe. Next time I'm flu$h I really want another 20112, and another 512. After that, possibly a Trem De La Trem and/or Regal. Like I said, I suspect a tube. |

I've got a 2x10 Victoriette -That's the 18w 2X EL-84 model. Mine is labeled as a SoulCactus amp, with a Victoria front logo. When I bought it, they claimed something like 12 watts. Now it is claimed 18 or 20. Don't know if there were any changes.
In the first couple of weeks I had it, it blew one of the resistors in the reverb circuit and took a tube as well. Victoria repaired the amp and I have had no problems since. Plenty loud for low watts, and the reverb and vibrato are quite nice. A little farty on the low end if I don't get the settings just right, but overall really a great amp. |

EL-84 based amps are not really known for their big bottom end -at least not like a Fender, but there's enough there for me. I guess that's the trade off for that nice chime-y top end. |

45410......My only amp with 4-10's......around the room is great but to sit in front----it PUSHES AIR!!! It's a keeper as another great option to match amp to guitar . And Mark is a great guy as far as I am concerned as he has answered all my questions and helped when needed. It may be the only Vickey I own but it will stay with the crowd.

I was blown away when I first plugged into my 35310 a couple of months ago. I unplugged all of my pedals for a while, but finally decided I needed more crunk at lower levels. I use a Weber attenuator, but I still needed a little more. It sounds great with and without a pedal. It is so sensitive to the touch on the guitar.

I have a 3X10 Victorilux (6L6). I can't decide whether I love this amp or not. I changed out the Jensen P10's for 2 Weber 10A125's and a 10F150 and it really made a big difference. Still not sure I'm going to keep this amp though. Although it has a great tone I prefer the big fat sound of my Dr Z Stangray. If I could find a pre 2004 Dr Z Mazeratti (double powered Ghia) I think I might get rid of my Victorilux.
I have 2 guitars a CS Nocaster and a 52 hotrod tele. The Nocaster sounds excellent with the Victorilux but the 52 hotrod does not. Both guitars sound great through my Stangray.

I've had a bunch of them. 35310, 20115 with 35115 transformer, Double Deluxe, couple of Regal II's, 2x10 Victoriette with 2 EL84's, 3x10 Victorilux with 2 6L6's, 3x10 Victorilux with 2 6V6's.
All were great amps. The 2x10 Victoriette was my least favorite but a great sounding amp. The 6L6 3x10 was killer but has massive headroom. The Regal II is a total classic. If I could only have one it would probably be the Regal II. If I could have two, the Regal II and 2 6V6, 3x10 Victorilux. That is one freakin awesome amp. The tweeds are totally awesome too but my two favorites do the tweed thing with reverb and tremelo. That 6V6 Victorilux is the one I wish I never sold. I sold it to get a guitar. Big mistake!!! |

In the first month I wasn't sure I cared for my victorilux either. I change out the 3 10" Jensens for 2 Weber 10A125's (alnico's) and a 10F150 (Ceramic) and it became more of what I was looking for but still not convinced. Then through some experimenting this week I backed the bass down from almost full to just a little over half and dialed the mids from half to almost full to full and found something I love in this amp. I used it at a gig last night and it sounded great.

I had webers in my Victorilux so it wasn't the speakers that I didn't like. My friend tried the Victorilux but ended up liking the Tweed Bandmaster better. Everybody's idea of good tone is different. 6v6's are sweet and plentiful ! JJ

I've only got me a little 518 . . . picked it up from the seller after it initially failed to get any bids on ebay . . . small, but suits my needs as a bedroom player (that sounds like a double entendre, doesn't it?).

victoria
I have two victoria amps ,a Regal 2 which has been described as a classic...it is indeed, and a newly acquired Victoriette with a twelve inch speaker and two 6 l 6's as power tubes. I'm not as happy with the Victoriette as the Regal 2 and I would be very interested in hearing from other owners of Victoriettes to see how they are set up and if any changes from stock have been made.I think anything victoria makes has got the potential to be great amps. As far as the costs go,yes they ARE expensive but you get a very sturdy ,great sounding amp that should last a long time.

Just scored a 5112 to go along with my Clark Beaufort and vintage 57 Tweed Pro. The Vicky is a sweet little amp. I can see it getting more play time than my other two tweeds not just based on the portability, but also due to the tone. I love it.
I'm impressed with the build quality, too.

I dearly love my tonaliscious 45410 Bassman. It is the standard by which all other amps will be compared. I could use an amp with far less volume...some clean headroom, but which crunches up when driven. Can anyone say 5112?
I had a Vicky 35210 for a while and I can honestly say it had no mojo and did nothing for me. It sounded best with the 339 I had at the time. With my beloved Tele, it was nothing special. My Tele through the Bassman is very special and tonally pure heaven!

I need to add to my above post the following:
If I could only have one amp for the rest of my life, it would by a mile be a Bassman. You can quote me in 10 years on that!

I have a regal II and a Victoriette and by far prefer the regal ;its great. I have TAD power tubes 6 L 6's and tung sol every where else.{IN the Victoriette} Actually I got the Victoriette so I could have a second Vickie and I sold three amps to pay for it. Its always helpful to check with Mark Baier at Victoria for the very best advice.
