The Vibrolux Reverb Roster

I'll start - proud owner of a '71 VR, last year sans particle board cab.

I just BF'ed it (except for the reverb) yesterday. It made an already great amp even better.

Who's next?

I've got a really nice '66 that I bought about 20 years ago. It's a keeper.

Here is my '73. Stock except for tubes.

I also have a '72 that came with a MM transformer and NOS tubes.

Both sound killer and are gigged often.

Definitely.

I've been looking for a BF VR, off an on, for a while now. I've seen quite a few over the last few years, but none with a cabinet in as nice as condition as yours.

all original '72 SFVR on the right and a recent CVR on the left that I tamed by putting some GE 5 stars in V1 & V2 and then put a 12AT7 in the PI socket.

Thanks. It's a clean solid amp. Unfortunately, I made the bad decision to have it modified almost 20 years ago. That's why there are two nickel hole plugs on the back. I had EL-34s, cascading gain, channel switching, effects loops, master volumes, etc... installed.

Luckily, the original Jensen speakers, trannies and most other parts were not modified or lost and no holes were drilled in the cabinet or the face of the chassis. The two plugged holes were drilled in the back of the chassis and a hole for another pre-amp tube was drilled in the bottom of the chassis.

It might've been called "near mint" before all that! Fortunately, it's a keeper!!!

A local tech and I have since returned the amp to stock condition and it sounds great!

I've got a 69 VR that I've had since 1981. It's been blackfaced of all the amps I own she's the last one that would ever leave the house. Fantastic amp.

I've got one of the new CVRs... used it at rehearsal last night- first time outside the house.

The legendary hissssssssing wasn't at all noticeable. A few excellent tones jumped out and caught me off guard where I actually turned around to see if it was the same amp Although for some reason it didn't like my Route 66 pedal (noisy)... must be time to replace it with an OCD pedal

I've been looking around but haven't had any luck finding one.
What are you guys running for speakers in your VR's?

I got rid of the oxfords in mine and right at the moment I'm running a set of Eminence Ramrods in it. I must say they sound really good.

My VR has the original Jensens.

Mine did not have the original faceplate on it (it had a newer silver faceplate). I ordered a replacement from Hoffman, I think. It's for an older amp. Notice it says "Fender Electric Instruments" on it.

Here!

I have a '67 that, get this, a guy gave me. He wouldn't take any money because of the condition so I made him take a stereo system in trade. It was missing speakers, reverb and a few tubes. $250 later it was screamin'. I've played through that amp virtually every day for over 18 years now.

It was one of the few things I own that survived my house fire (my Princeton Reverb wasn't so lucky). I'd sell everything I own before I'd sell that amp. It's definitely a perfect match for a Tele.
